SHOPNBC&RENATO WATCHES SCAM DIAMONDS

A review by ncognito_13 written on Feb 20, 2008
Full review
I purchased a diamond gents Renato Watch that was claimed to have 2.45cts of G color and VS diamonds. This fact was also clearly stamped on the case back of the watch. When the watch arrived I examined the diamonds with a 10x diamond loupe as I am a diamond expert having been in the loose diamond business for 30 years. I was shocked to find that 40 of the 236 diamonds were worse than VS clarity and at least 20 had a yellowish tint thereby not being G color..more like J to K color. I contacted Renato Watches and ShopNBC. Renato watches apologized and sent me another watch after I returned the first watch to them. Which I did. The 2nd watch was no better. I contacted ShopNBC and spoke to a Mr. Douglas Rost from the ShopNBCs presidents office. He NEVER apologized to me or to offer to make good on the advertised watch. All he offered was a FedEX form to return the watch to ShopNBC at no charge to me.

Neither company made good on the watch which was being sold at $2,295.00. I paid $1,957.00 because I had a discount coupon. The fact that BOTH companies are lying about the diamond quality that they are selling is a disgrace. They do this because they can get away with it since most people know nothing about diamonds and wouldn't know VS from BS which the diamonds were in the 2 watches I received.

I did receive my refund but that is far from the point. These companies, Renato Watches and ShopNBC are blatantly cheating the public and they could care less. I even spoke to Daniel Mink, an owner of Renato Watches, and he told me that he would make good on the quality promised. He NEVER DID.

I have purchased 3 other Renato Watches that I am happy with, They DO NOT have diamonds. The diamond Renato Watches are a disgrace and the public is being ripped off. I have filed complaints with the BBB in both Florida and Minnesota where Renato and ShopNBC are located. The fact that neither company made good on the stated quality of diamonds is a shame because consumers are being cheated out of lots of money. Buyer beware.,...THE DIAMONDS ARE NOT AS STATED

As a follow up to the above review.

ShopNBC called me on March 4, 2008 to inform me that they are no longer allowing Renato Watches to post clarity and color grades of the diamonds in their, Renatos, diamond watches. Renato Watches was still quoting erroneous color and clarity grades on their watches as of Monday March 3, 2008. Since the call from Mr.Douglas Rost came to me on Tuesday. March 4th I am going to check on Renatos next TV airing which is several times on Thursday March 6th. If in fact they are no longer stating specific colors and clarities I will feel quite impressed with ShopNBC to have owned up to their errors on this matter. In the future I hope that the diamond buying public will no longer be deceived by Renato Watches and ShopNBC. ShopNBC has also stopped allowing Renato Watches to use specific colors and clarities on their website descriptions of these watches.

I will check on these issues on March 6th on TV and report back if this misrepresentation has in fact been stopped. This proves that a legitimate company will react positively when they are called to task for allowing such lying to occur. I commend ShopNBC for owning up to this..I will reserve further praise until I am certain that these misrepresentations have been totally stopped.

Well, it seems that SHOPNBC does not know what telling the truth means. On their Renato show of March 6th @1AM I see Daniel Mink, owner of Renato Watches and Jim Skelton, ShopNBC employee, STILL BEING ALLOWED TO REPRESENT SPECIFIC COLOR AND CLARITY on a gents CYCLOPS WATCH. This is a day after I was told by Mr. Douglas Rost of ShopNBC that this representation would no longer be permitted on their network.

I am now going to pursue sending all my correspondence to a local tv station with the hope that they will put this entire experience on the air and expose these 2 fraudulent companies for what they are....liars and cheaters to the consumer.

I will further update the results of my quest to expose these companies for exactly what they are...FRAUDS. BUYERS BEWARE of SHOPNBC and RENATO WATCHES...you will NOT GET what you are paying for...
