As summer approached, I discovered that it was difficult to find sandals in my size (medium, and therefore sold out immediately) in local stores. I saw the Shoes.com site with their ad for free shipping and free replacements; it sounded great.
However, days after ordering my Bass sandals, I was notified by email that they were not available in my size (although that size still appears as available for ordering on the website). When I tried to log in to re-order the pair in a different color (no mechanism for this is set up), I had trouble remembering the complex password, since it has a different number of digits than most and unusual requirements (letters must be capitalized, etc.) After trying to log-in incorrectly, I was promptly thrown off the site without even the option of having my password sent to me.
When I emailed through "Contact Us" about having my log-in restored, I four times received generic responses not concerned with my problem. These were obviously all the same computer-generated email, which was made worse since they were signed with a person's name to make them appear real.
When the new pair was finally sent, it went by UPS with in-person signature required, which I had not requested. Consequently I have to be home all week to sign for them (difficult when one has a job) or have them sent back.
At this time, weeks after placing my initial order, I still do not have the shoes. The site lures you in with promises of free shipping and free returns, but how can you return shoes you can't obtain? I wish I had used another online merchant; don't make the same mistake I did. The pretty promises are not carried out and the entire shopping experience is difficult and frustrating.
