When a retail web merchant is:
1. Easy to use
2. A Huge selection
3. Free Shipping
4. Excellent Customer service
It truly deserves an Epinion review. Shoes.com absolutely fits the criteria. We have two boys in our house, ages 5 and 10. Shoes seemingly are a weekly purchase, ranging from Stride-Rite for the 5 year old to athletic footwear for the older guy. Usually, we have a time to shop, and do like to support our local merchants and area department stores. Purchasing shoes via the internet, I never had a good feel for, as the challenge is a good fit, and are you absolutely sure what you are getting. However, we ran into a tight time frame, as Michael tried out for a basketball team, and needed a pair of red and white shoes. Being a ten year old, you know any old shoes won't do. We went down to our local stores, even with team discounts, shoes ran over $75 to $150! With a growth spurt, we know they won't last long, so we looked for options. It seems to me, there is another good site, Eastbay Sports, but we went with Shoes.com and it proved excellent.
Website: Easy to navigate, had both a regular priced area and a sale area. Colorful, descriptive, and huge selections.
Selection Process: Without a doubt, the easiest ever! You had a menu where you could select:
Gender (male), shoe type (athletic), colors (red), and size (7.5). On the left side of the site, you could then limit athletic to basketball, limit to type of shoe, adidas, and "poof"! Here come the choices. The prices were truly competitive, and including free shipping, some of the best.
Sale Site: We ended up on the sale site, as the adidas model he really liked at a store ($89) was on sale for $59.99! Woo Who! Click, click, click, this pair of red and white, adidas basketball, size 7.5 Men's CC model was in the shopping cart. Yes, this easy.
Sale Site Part II: Of course, I had to check out my size 13's and see what was out there. I could not believe I found a pair of Dr. J's! Julius Erving Converse! Circa 1980's redux! Yes, with the 30 bux I saved on Michael's shoes, with 10 more out of my wallet for a great set of Converse Men's Zoneout, Black with the white Converse Star and stripe. Double woo, double who!
Total: Two great pair of leather basketball shoes for under $100! Payment was easy and secure via a credit card. Shipping, a dream.
I received an email confirmation immediately. It also mentioned a toll free 888 land line for customer service. Shipping was 3 day UPS ground, with a tracking number. I placed the order at 10pm on a Thursday, received a shipment confirmation on Friday, and received the shoes in time for practice on Monday. I had the option of checking the order's progress, but I never needed it! Timely! Yes!
Will I be using Shoes.com again? Absolutely, especially as Mrs. Duckling thinks I have a middle age crisis going on, reliving my youth through my basketball shoes. Lets see, I have the Converse Doc J's, I have the adidas Superstars, I have the Converse Chuck Taylors...Wonder if Shoes.com has the classic leather, low style Pro Keds? Or the gold leather suede NBA with 4 black stripes? Or the Dodger blue Pony turf-baseball shoes or..........................
