Overall a good experience. I did my shopping online at the Sears site before entering the store as I often do. The online site was showing the vacuum on sale for $349 but in the store it was listed at $427. Seems there is a difference in the model number by one digit and the only difference in the product is that the $427 model had 5 feet more of electrical cord. I could not see paying $78 extra for only 5 feet of cord and asked the sales clerk to check the online site. The sales clerk went online with me to view the model I wanted and found that they had it in stock. I was pleased to see the clerk trying to help me when I was there at a very busy time.

Boycott the Store so that we get treated like people on-line!

I do not recommend buying on-line or at the store even. Sears.com made me feel like I should have been so happy that they wasted my time, made me feel like I was a nobody and to employ staff that don't even want to deal with me. I ordered a microwave oven and was sent an e-mail confirmation stating that the appliance was ordered and that I should call to confirm delivery. When I called to confirm the young lady didn't know what I was talking about and stated that there was no such order. She even questioned that I made the order stating "user error". I asked to speak to her manager and she hung up on me! Why bother shopping at the Main store when the on-line store treats you like dirt and jerks you around. I am boycotting Sears and hope that others follow my example. I think once we hit them where it hurts (like in the wallet)then maybe Sears will try to do better with their service on-line. After all, not all of us have time to drive an hour to the store to get harassed about something that was incorrectly ordered!

FANTASTIC ONLINE SHOPPING

This is the best online retailer I have ever purchased from! Items were delivered when promised, customer service was prompt and helpful, and the search function was exceptionally easy to use. Best of all, I can order online and pick up many of the items at a Sears retailer near my home!! Virtual shopping with real world support makes Sears.com my favorite place to shop!

Bad Service, Great Idea

I would not shop sears on-line again. When we went to the store to pick it up at Curb Side pick up, they gave us a returned item that was opened and repackaged. Furthermore, some of the parts were missing. When we called the store, they said it was an on-line issue. The Sears on-line people said it was a store issue. After Sears National Customer Service called the store, they were happy to order the part; however, it never arrived. When Sears national customer service looked into it a month later, it turns out the store never ordered the part. We've had the fitness center for a month without being usable. Should we charge Sears interest? Don't use there on-line site!! It's a scam. You will receive used or return products.

I ordered a Maytag dishwasher at Sears.com online and picked it up at a local store. No problems. Sears.com said there was a $50 rebate offer on this dishwasher, something verified in the email confirmation I received with the pickup instructions.   Read full review...

On-line ordering does not allow you to order.

Tried to order a water filter on line; could not. Typical of Sears, part of the ordering was to list the discount coupon or promotion number. I had no such thing; all I wanted to do was order a part. Suffice it to say, Sears on-line ordering system would not let me buy a part from them. I avoid Sears any way I can!!!

I bought a child's desk and it was delivered too late. Lets just say I decided to change the plans for the room and went through with it. Then I got the desk. The desk was no longer part of the plans so I called and let them know the next day after I received the package. First I was told that my information wasn't coming up on the computer that I placed an order but yet I had my credit card statement that stated I had already been charged. I was told that I had to pay for shipping which was $50 to return it even though the package was never opened. The desk was worth $100. Of course I was charged $23 for shipping to receive it so I would be paying about $70 in total for a $100 desk. I ended up staying with the desk which is still sitting in its box unopened.

I ordered a pool table and after 3 days sears sends me this email:

Do not trust the Sears web site

If you place an online order with Sears, don't believe that you are actually placing an order. I bought a washer from Sear's web site. The order was processed and I was told that the someone would call me within 48 hours to arrange delivery. After two days I hadn't heard from anyone, so I logged into the order status page. It only said that the order had been processed. Later that day I received an email from Sears saying that they no longer had the washer I purchased and that my order was cancelled...nothing more.
Six or seven years ago, not being able to manage inventory through an e-commerce site was excusable, but for a company this size there is no excuse for this level of miscommunication.
That was my last attempt at ever giving Sears business again.

Don't have anything delivered, they will not show up - and you won't have any recourse other than to cancel. We canceled work to receive the delivery and they did not ring our doorbell to find out if we were home or not.

The store is OK, but avoid getting the charge card. I once missed a payment and received a letter from a collection agency about a week later. At the time I was a contractor spending ~$500-1000 a year on tools and paint alone (not to mention home/auto electronics), and they sent me to collections?!! Home Depot treats me much better.

It is a very wide spread department store. Reasonable prices and excellent customer service; however, I would not recommend it over other clothing manufacturers or outlets. The selection of mens fashions is limited.

Extremely disappointing

I recently ordered a Bostitch N88WW nail gun from Sears and they couldn't have made the process less satisfying even if they tried. I explained clearly what I wanted to order, I pointed out that the Home Depot cost was $23 less and supposedly the price guarantee was to be applied. Sears sent me a confirmation with the wrong item ordered, wouldn't cancel to correct their mistake and send the correct one, they required me to either refuse delivery or accept delivery and return it to a Sears store for a credit then reorder the correct one. In addition, they failed to apply the price match. I have never had to spend so much time fixing someone else's mistake. I would not recommend a purchase from their Online store to any one.

Getting Ready to Become a Repeat Customer

We recently purchased our new dishwasher from Sears.com. We'd gone to our local Sears store to look and purchase, but we were really put off by the sales associates working that day. So, we decided to give Sears.com a try.

The selection and search features for the appliance section are very nice. We were also able to easily locate the dishwasher we'd seen in the store and compare it to other models.

Placing the order was simple as any other internet purchase site. We elected to pick up from the store rather than pay for the delivery of something we easily fit in my husband's PT Cruiser. I received our order confirmation quickly, and I received our pickup notice within the time frame provided when we ordered. We went to the store, entered our information, and had the dishwasher in less than 10 minutes, no hassles at all.

Recently purchased a Kenmore vacuum cleaner (see link here http://www.epinions.com/content_151309749892) and replacement bags.

Found the vac online as a Clearance item, which was marked down over $100 from their original price. Ordered it and the bags online and had them 'delivered' to my local Sears store to save on the shipping. As they were both in stock, I received a "your order is ready" email 5 minutes later. I arrived at the store 30 minutes after that, and had the vac and bags brought out to me 3 minutes after that. The personnel at Sears were very courteous and even offered to take it to my car although it weighed just 30 lb.

Returned home and had it out of the box and running in less than 1-1/2 hours from when I ordered it.

I've purchased many things from Sears.com, including major appliances and parts for my Sears (and many other) products. I find their website extremely easy to navigate and have been happy many times over. Their online manuals and parts lists make ordering replacement parts a snap.

Shop at the actual stores... They treat you well, and the prices are "as good as or better" than online!

As a landlord 2200 miles from my rentals, I thought I would use my 'net connection to order a new stove for a rental unit and have it delivered for my handyman. When I checked on-line, I found what I was looking for but also found got hit with "additional" shipping charges. Deciding to give the tiny Outlet store a call in my property's town, I found that they had the same item on their floor, $10 cheaper than online, and available for next day delivery.

They cheerfully took my order over the phone, got the stove delivered as promised, and all worked out well. Although I buy a lot of merchandise online, I would STRONGLY encourage anyone to support their local SEARS stores if possible.

Late credit card payments incur high charges.

Be careful in management of their credit card -- their late fees are high.

We purchased a dehumidifier on June 4, received the credit card bill around June 12, let it sit around three weeks, sent the check off July 9. Due date was July 7. Result: on a $297.88 purchase (including service contract) we were charged $25.00 as a late fee plus $5.26 interest. Total to Sears for being two days late in mailing, probably four days late in their receipt: 10% of the amount owed.

The dehumidifier is fine. It's being hit by an exorbitant late fee so soon after purchase that seems wrong.

I bought an electric sander at Sears. The sander became defective after a short amount of use. I returned the sander (two months after buying it) and my money was refunded with no problems. I have found that Sears generally stands behind their merchandise. Also the sales people in the tool area have usually been knowledgeable and helpful. And I have been surprised to find that they often have the best deal on a particular item (not always, but more often than I would have expected), especially if it's on sale.

online was great.Took about 5 min then wait for e-mail confirm and go to the store and pick up. I had tried to get one in the store before going online. The people in the store could not find one for me at any of their stores in the chicago area.They refused to sell the floor model.Their were none in the chicago area but you need the floor model? I now remember why I dont shop sears.

Sears.com has been a great experience for me and my entire family.

The selection has been great, and I am glad to know they will soon be adding clothing! If an item is not in-stock, you can select to be notified when it is in-stock. I love the in-store pick up selection (which can save a bundle in shipping chargers)! They keep you up to date with great sales and offers! They also have a feature, in which, they place items on eBay (this is listed on sears.com).

You can also use this site to navigate to other sections of Sears such as portrait studio and the eye doctor and more! Sears is also affiliated with Lands End.

I have had only good experiences with them (and by experiences ... I mean TONS of times). And don't forget .. Sears.com gives you money back for college through UPromise.com!

Catalog orders would take up to 60 days to arive.
Used to have the best qualty goods in the world
at the lowest prices. Used to sell there own brand
of tvs, golf clubs, tools, etc. Store still has
good sales. Outlet stores have the best bargans.

HORRIBLE Delivery Experience!!!

HORRIBLE delivery experience!!! Have to adhere to specific 2-hour delivery window, waited all day, no delivery. Called 2 hours after delivery window and indifferent rep tells me that my refrigerator is on "maintenance recall" and that her notes say somebody already called me to tell me there would be no delivery. NOBODY CALLED ME - IF THEY DID, I WOULDN'T HAVE WASTED MY TIME WAITING OR CALLING!! Rep was adamant, however, and no apologies from anyone thus far. Rescheduled for same time, one week later, took another vacation day off work. Delivery person calls me 1 hour EARLY this time and tells me he's running early and is at my house right now. I tell him I can't be there for an hour, he tells me I need to re-schedule the delivery!!
I cancelled the whole order - these people are unsympathetic, inflexible, indifferent and incompetent. Sears sales manager acknowledged known problems with their delivery process. Too bad for the consumer I guess.

Good Experience....So Far

Sears took 2 weeks to deliver. Called night before to give estimated time. Driver was 1-2 hours late - we had to go out to find him when he came into our development.
When I called to return it the customer service rep was very cooperative. We did order a different refrigerator, and they still honored the discount we had on the first one.
We'll see how this works out, but Sears has been good to work with so far.
Even though we went to the store to look at the model we ordered, they are never hooked up to water, so we would have still returned it if we ordered it from the store versus online. We'd most likely order from sears.com again.

After I mistakenly bought the wrong rechargeable flash light a Sears.com rep said ok to ship back and they would refund the shipping too. At first is wasn't but one email worked and the shipping was refunded too. Most places don't refund shipping and fewer fix mistakes quickly. I have bought a lot from Sears over the years and been happy. You can get a good price to if you pay attention. I am not easy to please and have to give credit to Sears when its due.

Free Shipping may not be free.

Had somewhat of a misunderstanding with the advertised special that offered "FREE SHIPPING". First they said it was free, then upon ordering, they said because it was over 100 lbs., I had to pay the shipping. The FREE SHIPPING offer was displayed on the page that contained most of their self propelled and push mowers. However, they stated that the FREE SHIPPING was via UPS only.

They don't tell you that UPS shipping must me under 100 lbs. The product I ordered was 106 lbs. Therefore they wanted me to pay the $80+ for shipping by a freight company. The ad should clearly state this type of restriction or they should not offer items which exceed the FREE SHIPPING weight limit on the same pages that promote the FREE SHIPPING.

After speaking with several persons, they finally agreed to honor the "FREE SHIPPING" as advertised.

Sears ships shrink-wrapped refrigerators; 2 arrived dented!!!

Sears shipped 2 refrigerators; both arrived dented! They came with a little styrofoam on the corners and the rest was wrapped in plastic, giving next to zero protection! After I rejected accepting the first one, they "assured" me they would inspect the next one before delivering to ensure it was in perfect condition. WRONG!! I figured I'd give Sears one more chance after it took them three tries to get the heat pump delivered and installed correctly. As I've heard many others say.... This is not the Sears I used to know! It's no wonder the company is in trouble. I've finally learned my lesson! I urge everyone else to learn from my experiences and not shop at Sears (at least for major home appliances).

We recently upgraded our Kitchen and purchased a new Dishwasher, and Range Hood at Sears.com. The purchase itself was very very easy. Sears.com has everything arranged on their site so that is is fairly easy to navigate through. Prices are competitive.

Rotten, useless, and frustrating

I ordered a snow blade for my garden tractor at Sears.com for in store delivery. The site was at the store. The e-mail confirmation said it would be a week to deliver. A later e-mail said it would be two weeks. It finally did come two weeks after initially promised. The e-mails said call the store where everyone was clueless on what was going on and the 800 number was not much better. Sears also billed my credit card the day I made the order not when it was delivered. I check with a Sears store some 50 miles away when I needed additional parts and they said they had the blades all the time and not to trust the web site. If the employees of sears don't trust Sears.com why should any one else?
