I ordered a compact refrigerator on Cyber Monday at 3:30 pm with in-store pickup. I chose the in-store pickup because the store showed the item available with the 10% Cyber Monday discount. The website stated that I would receive a confirmation e-mail within 2 hours. I waited more than 3 hours until the end of the workday without receiving the said e-mail. More than a day later I still have not received a confirmation e-mail.
I went to the store in question and found the item in stock on the showroom floor. I was told by the handling sales associate that their online orders frequently get dropped and they would not honor the Cyber Monday online price since they have nothing to do with the online store (even though the store is the same for the online order pickup). I purchased the item in store at the regular price since it's apparent that my order was dropped.
This has been the MOST aggravating online/real-world shopping experience I have had. For all practical purposes the Cyber Monday online promotion was worthless. And the fact that the item was available in store the entire time is the most ironic part of it.
This experience has soured me on Sears. It's extremely unprofessional and misleading for a national retailer of your so-called reputation to ruin the web experience and convenience of shopping online. I won't look at Sears online again and shopping in-store will be spotty at best.
A severely disappointed customer.
