I purchased a pair of rock climbing shoes for my brother as a gift. It was very easy to navigate the web store, I had no trouble at all making the purchase or confirming it. The tracking info that was provided was accurate and prompt. All in all, it was very easy and the whole order only took a few minutes. Great overall experience. Only issue was that it took around 3 days to confirm that the order was accepted/approved. Given that the item I ordered disappeared from the website during the wait, I made a concerned phonecall to Rock Creek. The customer service person was very friendly and helpful, providing an explanation and confirmation (helmet was located at another location, and picked up only once per week -- I had ordered the last one). Following the call, the product arrived very quickly. I Had to return the product for sizing reasons, but the return process was very easy and credited quickly. Would purchase from Rock Creek again.

I would shop from Rock Creek again, but the item I ordered did take a long time to ship compared to other merchants. I ordered the jacket on a Saturday night and recieved it on Monday,nine days later. Unfortunately, I did not receive it in time for a meeting I had intended it for. I called customer service and the representative seemed a little perplexed about the hold-up. It took a couple of days after the call for the item to show up as "en route" on the shipping screen. Then it was several days until the item reached my home.

I had a problem with this order (most likely my own fault) and spoke to O'Ryan at RCO to get the problem fixed. The problem was not completely fixable (the item I thought I had origianlly ordered was no longer available), but O'Ryan did a great job of trying to address the issue. I was very pleased with the online shopping process with Rock Creek. The staff was friendly and responsive, they contacted me to verify the use of my credit card to complete the purchase. I also received updates on the status of my order at each step in the process. Once the order was shipped I was able to track it easily. The package arrived in good shape at it's distination (it was a gift and I had it shipped directly to my brother in eastern Canada). When the package arrived, my brother was delighted with the quality of the product. This type of men's footware is almost impossible to find in retail outlets in Canada. My brother loves them because they are so very comfortable.

The entire order was not received at the same time. Received a phone call on day of arrival stating that all items ordered may not have been included in shipment. Remaining items not included were sent second day air, however, the items did not make it in time for the planned ski trip in which they were purchased to begin with. The total time between order and final receipt of all items took almost two weeks. This was a little frustrating, considering the ordered items were a stocking cap and snow boots. Customer service and items ordered made this purchase worthwhile.

At first I was a little frustrated with Rock/Creek because I ordered the shorts and belt and then I received an email saying the shorts were no longer available. It seemed like on a website immediate updates should be available and out of stock products should not be displayed. However, I was pleased with how quickly they informed me of this. I called to let them know I didn't want a substitute for the shorts but only wanted the belt, and the rep still gave me free shipping even though the sub total had dropped below the free shipping limit, which was nice. I received the belt quickly. After trying it out, I have a couple of complaints. The hot cut near the buckle is oriented so the sharp side points out into me when I am wearing the belt, which is annoying 'cause it felt like a thorn sticking in to me while I was hiking. It would have been nice if Rock/Creek offered to cut the belt to a custom length rather than just shipping it one size fits all. On the other hand, it was only 7.50 so its not a bad belt for that price and I should be able to make some modifications myself to make up for the problems. So overall, I was somewhat dissatisfied with this shopping experience, but I won't discount Rock/Creek based only on one experience. I have shopped with them once before and been satisfied, and I'll certainly be willing to try them again in the future.
