Had 'Ritz Camera Gift Card'... unfortunately doesn't work at "online store" because, according to their service dept, they're "two different companies".
I asked why do you have a 'store locator' on your website if you are indeed two different companies, reply: "as a service for our customers". "But they wouldn't be -your- customers then, it would be a "different company's" customers, logically, right? Strange to give away business like that if you are really two different companies." There's a conflict of interest here, and it can only hurt the consumer. In the end I had to go to a local store and find something there, but not what I wanted, since what I saw online wasn't available at local store. |

My experience with Ritz Camera was very good. I received the camera I ordered within 3 or 4 days. The only minor "thing" was that they advertised free shipping, but when I added it to my cart, it said I had to pay shipping because it was a "specially priced item". The shipping costs were minimal though so overall it was a good experience and I would buy from them again.

Went to store to purchase an advertised Sony camera, which of course was out of stock. Took my name and said camera would be in in 5 days. Called to tell me it was in but wouldn't honor the advertised price of $199 but would sell it for $299. Not the first time I've had trouble with this place, but it will be the last!

Just purchased a Nikon D70. Ordering was easy, shipment was timely. Good price. Everything went well, except they prominently featured a rebate on the web order site. When the camera arrived there was no information about the rebate. I had to write customer service and ask them how to apply for it. They answered promptly, but this was an extra step I do not think I should have to do. I'd order again from Ritz though.

When I searched the browser, I searched for a PAL system camcoder, with the model # SONY DCR-HC30E MINI DV CAMCORDER.
After ordering I saw that the shippment is a
SONY DCR-HC30 MINI DV CAMCORDER.
I called right away and told them that if this camcoder is a NTSC system I would like to cancel my order. The girl on the phone didn't know anything, she took my phone number and told me that someone will call me. Nobody called back. And after several calls and e-mail I was told that the order was shipped out, and that I should send it back.
Eventually I received the order, sent it back and got a refund. But it took me a lot of time.

I am always reluctant to spend a large sum of money on the internet. But that said, I ordered a Canon EOS Digital Rebel 300D kit, plus an extra lens, camera bag and a few other bits from Ritz Camera.
I ordered by phone rather than using the online form, still don't trust Websites with my CC. The girl was knowledgeable and helpful. Ordered, wasn't pressured into buying anything extra or a warranty. Ordered very late Wednesday and payed for next day delivery. Parcel arrived Friday as promised, everything in perfect condition. Would certainly buy from Ritz again. |

I telephoned my order for a Canon 20D plus 18-55 lens ($1599) on a Friday, received a confirmatory call back within one hour, shipping confirmation on Monday and the camera on Wednesday - excellent service. There was no pressure salesmanship to add to my order. Had I been prepared to wait for the camera I could possibly have reduced the price a little - but I was impatient to upgrade my super slow 10d.
An excellent experience and I wont hesitate to use Ritz again. |

Did a lot of research and comparison shopping for my digital camera. Ritz camera had the camera I wanted at the best price. It also had a $30 rebate, no tax, and free shipping (all factors in it having the best price). I bought my camera, it arrived quickly, it was as described, and got my rebate no problem. Overall very happy with this store.

Even though I was a little apprehensive about this store based on some of the other reviews on this site, when I saw that Ritz Camera had the new digital camera I was looking for in stock, I chose to buy it from them. And I wasn't disappointed in the least. I ordered the camera on Thursday and received it on Saturday. The camera and everything it came with is brand new and with a US warranty. I am very satisfied with my purchase and will buy from them again.

My experience with this shop was very bad. I purchased a Nikon coolscan 9000 and was charged ( with custom duties and postal service) the amount of 2500$. After 7 days I write them telling them that my credit card has been charged and the item has not been shipped yet.
So I get the answer that my item is backordered indefinitely and has been cancelled and I will get my credit card refund in 2 or 3 weeks. That lets me my credit card near it's limit and without the possibility to buy the scanner in another place. Really beware from this people |

Ritz sells to me very fast with all kind of promise. When I bring back the unit for small adjustment, I got a cold face and rude treatment. Nothing is actually guaranteed. I will never buy a thing from Ritz again even though they have a nice catalog. Ritz price is not that great either on the high side.

I strongly discourage everyone from dealing with RitzCamera. I ordered Nikon SQ camera from them. They shipped it fast, but the camera was unsealed, obviously I wasn't the first owner. The memory card was missing, there were FINGERPRINTS on the lens!
I called them to replace the camera just right after receiving the camera and they promised to send me a label to return the camera. There is no record of my first complaint and when I called them for the second time, the manager suggested to buy another camera, otherwise replacing procedure will take up to 3 weeks. He refused to send anything to us by express shipment, he refused to send missing memory card. That was the worst experience ever. Very poor service. |

BEWARE: Ritz does not honor their low price guarantee.
Ritz advertises a low price guarantee on their website. There are a number of conditions which a competitor and their offer must meet. A Canon camera listed on their site for $249.99 was found on 2 other competitors' sites for $219. All other terms and conditions matched (as their Customer Service people acknowledged). After speaking to two levels of management at Ritz, the best I was offered was $233. Two complaints to the Better Business Bureau yielded the same explanation: "In most cases we can match the pricing submitted by customers . . . However, when the price request goes below our cost we will not honor the lower pricing . . . we encourage the customers to purchase the item through the [competitive] retailer." Hard to believe Ritz with their internet and national chain presence can't match purchasing volume of smaller web only retailers. They also would not answer the question of how frequently do they reject other low price guarantee requests. If they won't honor this guarantee, what else are they misleading buyers on? They've lost my online and retail film processing business. |

I recently purchased an EOS Digital Rebel camera outfit from Ritz Camera and have been nothing but pleased with the service I received. Shortly after placing the order via the web, I received an e-mail saying I needed to call to confirm my order. I thought "great - here comes the bait and switch" where they would try to sell me more than I wanted at higher prices. BUT NO. They only needed to confirm that the holder of the credit card had made the purchase as it was over $1000. The people I spoke to were courteous and the call was very short and simple. My camera arrived very quickly and was very well packaged. I love the camera and would definitely consider Ritz Camera for my next photographic purchase.

Great store experience!! I bought a Canon 300D Digital Rebel camera at the store in Santa Clara, CA. There were major quality control problems with the camera. Within the 10-day refund period Ritz refunded my purchase price in full without any kind of hassle. The store manager apologized for the defects in the camera. I will watch the web for comments on the Canon camera. When the quality problems are fixed, I will return to this store and buy the camera there. It was a pleasure shopping there.

Shopped at ritz camera for digital prints. Their customer service is terrible. Or maybe I should say does not exist. Their coupons advertised in newspapers are misleading. The customer service (!) is not flexible to correct customer mistakes particularly if the customer was misleaded by the coupons (this is happened to me).
Otherwise their equipment is great. But what if something goes unexpected. Then you are in trouble. I do not recommend their services. |

Ordered a Nikon D-70 through Wolf Camera, which is the same as Ritz. It was a great experience, with absolutely no pressure to buy any unwanted items. The price was competitive, and no extra charges for shipping, it was included in the camera price. They shipped within one day. and when I called back about the order, they explained fully the status, and were very friendly. I would order again from Wolf/Ritz in a heartbeat.

I received a defective camera from Ritz. The service rep told me to send it back and they will reimbursed me or shipping. They agreed to overnighting(note: Never was a maximum mentioned and this was all recorded).
I received a return email 3 days later because my card was rejected (they tried credited my debit card and then tried running it again). Bad thing here: If I didnt call I would have never heard from them again. I was then told at that time the MOST I would be credited for the shipping would be $15 and not the full amount of $37.25 for shipment. They did offer me 2-day air to ship the camera back, but considering they already wasted 3 days still not happy. Oh yeah...they wanted me to fax the shipping receipt back (I already gave them a copy in the package). They would not budge in fact they seemingly changed their policies on the whim. The most unprofessional lot of people I have ever worked with. Unknowledgeable and rude; DO NOT BUY FROM RITZ!!! In spite I cancelled the order and demanded the $15.00 (because if I am losing money off this Ill be d***ed if Ritz gets ahead). |

I ordered a film scanner from ritzcamera.com on Dec 26th, 2003. Soon after, I received an email confirming that my order had been processed. Eight days later they sent me another email stating that the item was discontinued and no longer available. They suggested that I purchase the newer version of the scanner. I missed out on a $200 manufacturers rebate because of their delayed response. If they would have kept up on their inventory (something that would seem to be crucial for a web based store) then I could have purchased the scanner elsewhere and still received the $200 rebate. I asked for a %10 discount OR free shipping with the new scanner for their error. They refused. I went ahead and ordered the new scanner (at their normal price) on Jan 8th. That was about 25 days ago. Needless to say, I canceled my order and will be purchasing the item from B&H.

When I called them to inquire about my shipping, i think they route the calls to some other country and the reps there are worthless. I got the extended warranty service and my camera has been in the shop nowfor 6 months! It absurd... Pay a few more $$ and buy your goods somewhere else. |

We ordered a Sony DCS-F828 camera $999.99 from Ritz- a last minute tax deduction on 12/31/03. I called to make sure that it was in stock- the woman who spoke very poor english kept loosing the information in the computer, it took almost an hour to order it over the phone. I had to repeat the credit card information at least 5 times.It was hard to find it in stock, so I remained patient.
The email confirmation came, and it was for a 474.99 SONY DCR-TRV350 DIGITAL 8 CAMCORDER I called them and they would cancel the order and make a new one-I told them that the order need to be placed on the same date, that they should change the order, not make a new one. I was on the phone for another half hour with the guy who also spoke broken english, in the end he could not process the order- after taking all the information over again. I feel lucky to have canceled my order, before they charged the camera. I found many of the reviews on this site helpful in making that decision. |

I ordered a Sony camcorder on 12/17/03 and received it on 12/20/03. Everything was as advertised and the price was right. Ritz also charged no shipping. I assume Ritz and the shipping company are fully staffed for the Xmas season and this must have helped speed the delivery. I could not have asked for any better service, I will shop at Ritz again.

Ritz Camera had the lowest price on the Nikon Coolpix I was looking for. Ordered the camera on line, with FREE shipping. They said that shipping would take 7-10 days. I got a UPS link in an e-mail the day after the order and it took me direct to UPS where I could almost tell the hour the camera would be delivered. I ordered this Nikon on 12/3 and it was delivered on 12/5. All items were received just as advertised. Would certainly shop at this web site again! |
