We purchased several items from this company including a refrigerator, dishwasher, stove, oven, sink and garbage disposal.  We had issues with two out of the six items.

1) The first item, a sink was ordered but never shipped.  After several inquiries we were informed that the product we ordered was no longer carried by Rainbow.  While they were not capable of informing us of this problem until we asked what was the status of the item, they had no problem cashing a check for the product.  We did finally receive a check, but it required us calling several times to make sure the check was cut and mailed.  Only after we told them that they had five days to mail the check did we actually receive our money.

2)  Our refrigerator was received damaged, and we did everything that they requested as it related to inspecting the package. We signed the receipt as damaged and we even took photos.  After a month of disputing the claim they offered us $100, via voice-mail. After being completely disgusted with their customer service (No returned phone calls, being continually disconnected, sent into voice-mail hell, customer service people who only work part time and can't take calls) we asked them to come pick up the product.  They refused, saying that we were backing out of a verbal agreement (which never took place) and that they would not pick up the item.  The manager Allan then said he was mailing us a check for $150.00 and that will settle our account.

How did our $100.00 "agreement" suddenly become $150.00 in the course of the conversation.  Do they think that I will become less dissatisfied with them by increasing their settlement amount?  The product is damaged and I can't use it.

I told Allen I was going to call the better business bureau, which I am going to do after this post and if necessary I will see him in small claims court.

I urge others who have been coerced into taking a settlement from this company to fight back and take legal action if necessary.  It's companies like Rainbow who propagate ill-will between retailers and customers.
