Based on previous reviews on Racks and Stands, I decided to give them a try for two CD1500 oak veneer racks. Because I wanted more than one, I called the toll free number, and amazingly enough, I was given a discount because of the quantity. The person who took my order was very cordial and answered all my questions, and even though I selected the free ground shipping, I received my order in about a week. The rack came in two boxes with the larger having some minor damage on two corners but because the material was double boxed, there wasn't any real damage to the contents. Overall satisfaction is VERY high and I would order from them again. I do recommend reviewing the return policy though - even though shipping to you is free, if the item is damaged and must be returned, you must pay the return shipping unless you have paid for their "insurance". Still, I would buy again from them.

Regardless of recent Epinions' reviews of R&S, I had a great experience.
Price matched plus. Received order in less than five days. They sent email regarding shipping and another to follow-up to make sure I had received my VTI speaker stands. Young man I spoke with on the phone was polite, professional and helpful. He even spent additional time trying to locate a "riser" to separate my AV receiver and cable box (to no avail). Very pleased with price, shipping, communication and service. Highly recommended, without any reservation. Great experience! UPDATE: Happened to notice a powder coat finish problem with one pole. Called R&S and they emailed me a copy of order to VTI to replace while on the phone. Replacement arrived a few days later. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE. Repaid their service by ordering a pair of Wood Technology stands from R&S. |

Racks and Stands is an interesting vendor. I bought a $100 tv stand that arrived slightly dented. One piece, which was not visible when the stand was assembled, actually had the skid mark of a machine shop tool in it that was about 10 inches long. But, it's a $99 item, and not Ethan Allen.
One of the finished corners (yes, this piece was visible) was dented, but again, I knew I was getting a $99 tv stand.
Was I thrilled with the quality? No. Was it necessary for me to contact them for additional parts? No. After all, it was.......$99.
Bottom line, I'd buy from them again, but not for anything "delicate".

I placed my order on 11/26 understanding that the product would not be available until 12/1. On 12/1 the item showed on your system as available for shipping within 24 hours. However, the "expected fill date" for my shipment was changed to 12/8, and not 12/22 with the product now showing as not available until 12/22. I do appreciate the fact that you haven't billed me yet for my product (as it hasn't been shipped), but hope it will truly be available for shipping on the 22nd.

I saw a TV stand that I wanted on their site, but found it a lot cheaper on another site. But they had a link saying if you found it cheaper elsewhere, let them know and they might be able to beat it. So I sent them the link. At first they emailed back and said they couldn't confirm that price. It may have been my error, I forgot to include tax in the price I gave them. But even with tax, it was cheaper so not sure why they couldn't confirm it.
At any rate, I found more links online to cheaper prices and emailed them again. This time they wrote back that they had found it even cheaper at a site I hadn't even told them about! And they offered $10 less than that site. So I got a great deal. It was shipped out right away and I received it two days later! (I didn't pay any extra for fast shipping.) Product was in excellent condition. |

This was more complicated to put together than was clear by the ad. I had to hire an assembly guy. One of the boards had a rather large chip in it upon arrival. Since it was in the back and the assembly guy was already here, and it was so challenging to get the delivery, I did not want to send it back. Also, the assembly guy told me that the nails that came with it were too big, causing some chips in the front bottom when the nails went through. He's going to try getting something from home depot to cover them up. So, I'm disappointed about these issues. At the same time, I don't want to go to the trouble to disassemble it, send it back, and find something else.

The seller did not meet either the shipment or arrival dates quoted when we placed our order. We made three attempts to call their 800 customer service line to inquire about the status, but were placed on hold for a very long time -- 10-20 minutes -- and never actually talked to a person. Finally -- a week after the last arrival date they quoted -- we received an email saying they expect an additional delay of at least three more weeks before they can ship. Very disappointing.

Ordered a Plateau A-V rack on 8/18. It arrived on 8/29 (did not ship until 8/25, looks like they order from the manufacturer as orders are placed - too slow!). The rack was the wrong color and did not include the tubes, only the three shelves. I called Customer Support immediately, and the lady said they would get the correct item (with tubes) out and pick up the other one. Today (9/7) I called them back as I had heard nothing, and was advised by Andrew that they had been waiting to hear if I had received the casters for the rack which had been shipped separately (they arrived on 8/31) before placing the replacement order!! So, as of now they have supposedly placed the order for the correct rack, and are arranging for pickup of the one that was delivered. Based on my experience so far, I expect it to be another two weeks before the proper item arrives. I will update this with final resolution when it is done.

The actual product was fine, but the Fed Ex delivery was in part unsatisfactory: delivery person did not wait for someone to come to the door before he ran toward the truck, and when the homeowner actually called out to him he just said "the box is on the porch". Now this box is over 80 pounds, and the person who called out to him to help get the box into the house was an older woman, slight of build. I called Fed Ex to make the complaint, and they responded with a follow-up call and I am satisfied they heard the problem and will deal with it. Perhaps you might look at your delivery service, although I'm not sure what you can do about a situation like this. Otherwise, I am very pleased with the product and with other aspects of my shopping experiences with Racks and Stands.
