I am happy to order from you over the internet. If you had a store in New York City I would probably go to it, but I don't think you have one. I first learned about your store when a friend on the west coast told me about it. That was many years ago and have used your catalog or website when I need camping or long underwear. Here in New York I am keeping the heat down and wearing long underwear half of the year to lower my carbon dioxide footprint.

As usual, I had a great experience shopping at REI. The ship-to-store option presented some difficulties, but that was due to schedule changes at my end, not anything to do with REI. A brief phone call allowed my son to pick up my order for me on his way to Kingston from Olympia.

I am a loyal REI customer and have shopped there for several years and will most likely continue to do so. I have noticed a slight downgrade of knowledge level of the store clerks as compared with previous years. I know more, but I expected more seasoning than what I have encountered recently. I still enjoy the store and spend a great deal of time on your website

Original order for kayak was rec'd damages. REI in Washington called and informed me. Discussed alternative kayaks with person and I chose a different kayak. Young lady at the Washington office was very helpful and I got new and different kayak on time and in perfect condition.

We live too far away from an REI store to use the ship-to-store option. But we may use it in the future for our daughter who lives in Denver, CO where there is a store. I received the sleeping bag sooner than expected!
I like to read the ratings of the products--it helps me when I'm trying to make a choice.

Overall I love the REI store and the website. My favorite thing about the website are the customer reviews - I like that REI seems not to edit out the bad ones. I was going to buy an item and customers uniformly did not like a new fabric the garment was being made out of. Needless to say I didn't buy that item - but I did buy a different version (2 of them in fact) - and felt good about it.

I love REI -- for the quality of their products and their customer service. Whenever I call, the REI people are "fully present." They listen, hear, understand, and act. This is incredibly refreshing in a time when it's difficult to find a human being on the end of a phoneline. And so often when I have reached a human being, they read a script! REI is there.

One time recently I shopped in person at the REI/Seattle. After leaving the store and returning to the hotel I realized on the receipt I had been charged for two instead of one product. I called customer service and was quickly referred to the correct employee who asked me several questions pertaining to numbers on the receipt. That was it; and within 7 days or less my bankcard was credited back the amount I was overcharged. That couldn't have been any easier, simplier, or less stress-free. If I had to go get the car out of a garage and drive to the store during horrendous traffic and try to find parking and then go into the store to customer service, etc. then return to the car and return to the hotel and repark the car etc. you can understand what a hassle, time-consuming drama it would've been. So not worth it. I was so relieved to take care of it with just one phone call. I like to shop REI for myself and for gifts. I've had a membership number from the very first year they were open; and have received dividends throughout the years; which is a double plus to the shopping experience.

The only bad part was picking it up from the store itself. I had to wait in line for a long time. There was not enough staff for a long time. They had 1 person and it was a long customer service line. It would be a good idea to have the pick up order separate from the returns as the returns can take a long, long time. Just a suggestion.
