When I placed this order on 12/8 through Amazon.com (actual seller was PresentsForYou), I was informed the item would leave the warehouse by 12/11 or 12/12 and arrive between 12/14-21.
However, the item did not leave the warehouse until 12/20/06 and is now scheduled to arrive 12/29/06, well after Christmas and well after the relatives for whom I'm buying the gift will have already gone home.
While Amazon's policy is to let customers know there will be a delay so the customer then has the option to cancel the order, apparently PresentsForYou does not share this philosophy. In this case, I received no notification of the delay until the item had already shipped, too late to cancel.
I believe PresentsForYou is responsible for notifying their clients of shipping delays. It wasn't a UPS delay, it was delayed leaving their own warehouse. Of course, PresentsForYou promptly billed me the second the item shipped, so now I will have to pay shipping both ways, $22.10 total for a $44 item.
Amazon told me to contact PresentsForYou by phone. I did so, leaving a message two days ago with no response. I also sent their customer service email with no response.
I can be forgiving of a shipping delay, but the lack of considersation in not contacting me until I had been billed and forcing me to pay shipping twice for an item I no longer need, not to mention the void of customer service, is not forgivable.
***Update 1/07***
PresentsForYou finally contacted me, not in response to my customer service requests, but because I had given them a bad rating online (on Amazon). They offered to refund my shipping costs if I changed my rating.
