retro-hip Star Wars bedding is a hit!
by funshop, September 24, 2009
|

|
Hi I recently bought the StarWars bedding for my kids. Both the boy AND the girl loved it. We got both the quilted bedding and the sheeting. Both are high quality have not faded at all after several washings. My wife and I enjoy the nostalgic connection to the films and in turn it's a connection that we make with our children. There's kind of a 'retro-hip' quality about the product that everyone in the house enjoys.

Poor Quality!!!
by lorilev, August 22, 2009

I purchased these roman shades for both my sons' rooms from pottery barn kids. I am extremely disappointed with the quality! First, they do not lock in place (you must wind a cord around a cleat...very inconvenient..especially in a child's room). Second, they are wrinkled. Third, the lining is horrible. The blackout layer is actually fused to the fabric itself so that is not a problem; it is the white cotton lining that hides the inner workings of the shade that it problematic. It is always wrinkled and never folds properly when the shade is raised... so from the outside of the house the windows always look terrible. I have to lift the shade up, stick my head behind the shade and manually fold the cotton lining for each pleat every time I raise the shade. I seriously regret the purchase. Considering the price and shipping fee I could have had these custom made!!! Live and Learn.

Worst customer service experience of my life

Pottery Barn Kids
Today in the mail we received notice that the quilt we ordered in an entire bed collection was sold out. We received and were charged for the rest of the set. No one called to ask if we still wanted the set or to let us know the quilt was not going to be delivered. When I got the letter, I called customer service to see if we could send the set back. The customer service rep said "yes" - if WE paid for shipping. She also yelled at me and said "this is our policy; it has been for a long time and what's the problem?" When I asked to speak to a manager, I was put on hold for a half an hour and then hung up on. I called back and got a more polite representative who said I was hung up on because the managers were all out to eat. Didn't I know it's dinner time? I asked why I was hung up on rather than just told a manager wasn't available. She said I don't know and no one apologized to me. It was the worst customer service experience of my life and I wouldn't shop in Pottery Barn Kids....EVER. Kristin |

Buyer Beware of flawed goods
by christamus, January 16, 2009

I purchased two sets of sheets from PBK online. One set had been opened previously, and on initial inspection looked OK. But when it came time to put the sheets on the bed, I found that the flat sheet had a hole in it. It was too late to return the sheets, PBK's 30 day return policy had expired. For the price I paid, I am not impressed. Watch out with this company, they are palming off their returned and damaged goods on the unsuspecting customer.

Lounge N Chair Too Small For Teens - No Return Allowed
by seekthetruth90, August 25, 2008
|
|||
|
I ordered a lounge n chair from the PB Teen catalog and was very disappointed when it arrived. The size is good for a kid, but not many teens would be comfortable in this small chair. The fabric looks and feels cheap, but the price was anything but. When I called customer service they said they could not take it as a return because they considered it to be a special order, even though it had not been monogrammed. So, basically I just wasted $175. Not easy to swallow in today's economy. I will never order from PB again.

Pitiful Quality and Unconcerned Customer Service
by lilskittle82, July 2, 2008

|
I ordered a bedding set from Pottery Barn Teen and although the order and shipping experience was nothing less than exceptional, the quality of the set was PITIFUL and the color of the product was misrepresented by the company. I emailed customer service regarding my issue and they sent me one of those pre-written emails saying that they do not like when their customers are unhappy and they will send my concerns to the appropriate department, but not to expect a response. So basically, "Oh well." Needless to say, Pottery Barn will not be on my list of places to shop from here on out. If I can make one suggestion, just continue receiving the catalogs to waste their money, and try to copy the looks yourself.

Thrilled with PB Kids online order!
by pcjc629, May 19, 2008
|
|||
|
I recently ordered the large Carolina table and two benches for my son's room. I was a little hesitant to order furniture online since I was afraid that it might become damaged in transit. We live in a remote area, though, and there were no stores locally carrying exactly what I was looking for. So... I took the plunge and ordered online from PB Kids. I have to say that I was thrilled when the furniture arrived and there was not even one dent, nick or scratch anywhere! All of the pieces were wrapped extremely well for shipment. I do not feel that the amount of packaging material was excessive as one reviewer stated, but rather, it was the minimal amount of packing material needed to keep the items protected during shipment. The quality of the furniture I ordered is superb and the pieces were very easy to assemble. I am very pleased with my online order from Pottery Barn Kids and have placed additional orders with this store over the past few months. The customer service department has always been pleasant and helpful with all of my questions.

Defective lamp
by udc216, April 25, 2008
|

|
Generally, the products are lovely, albeit a little overpriced. Beware however, I did buy the Cortland Table Lamp for my son's room. Although it was purchased 2 years ago, it was hardly ever turned on. Recently, when using it, smoke started coming out of the lamp where the light bulb screws in. It wasn't the light bulb, but definitely the light base. We immediately turned it off and took it out of his room. Upon calling Pottery Barn, I was told that since it was over the 1 year for return, there was nothing they could do. Needless to say, I wasn't happy. By usage standards, this product is almost brand new with some type of electrical defect, which is not what you want in a child's bedroom. They should have done the right thing, even though it was over the 1 year period. This was a safety issue, not a change of mind. That will be my last trip to Pottery Barn Kids. I hate to trash a business for one issue, but quite frankly, this was a serious safety hazard that they had no interest in correcting. I'll take my business elsewhere

Unhealthy off-gassing furniture

Shopping experience is fine, nice people, quality is okay, but the furniture is off-gassing to the point I may return it, we've all got a headaches from it. This is for a kids room, what kind of company would do that. The packaging as so excessive and un-recyclable (mounds of styrofoam)that it won't fit in our weekly garbage can. For the price your getting mdf mixed with wood furniture painted with highly off-gassing paint. It's manufactured in Vietnam. From now on I"ll go to Room and Board for better quality design and more healthy products. Most of their products are also make in the US.

Terrible customer service, expensive shipping and very rude!
by tk417, February 28, 2008

I have shopped PBK many times. I thought they were fine until I had a problem with my order. I purchased a complete set for my daughter's bedroom. The items were the same set but did not match each other. When I called about this they told me that it was too bad because they were on sale so therefore nothing could be done. I understand their policy, but if there is a problem with something I still think that they should try to resolve the issue. I can't believe they have such terrible customer service. This was not expected from them.

Total incompetence, ended up canceling order
by foobarbaz2, December 7, 2007

I ordered some furniture off the PBTeen website, but I accidentally ordered one piece in the wrong color, which was easy to do given that the colors were "rustic sun valley honey" versus "rustic sun valley white". Still, I take responsibility for making the mistake. The thing is, I called PBTeen within minutes to correct it. But instead of correcting the order, the order only got screwed up worse and worse over the next 6 days, until I ultimately gave up and canceled the entire order. Despite calling PBTeen every day, the color never actually got changed! The order status on the website did not match what the telephone reps were saying at all. The telephone reps said that several pieces of my order had been cancelled "at customer request," which was not true, I never canceled anything (except the whole order at the very end). At every call I kept getting transferred to "the furniture team," to "the warehouse," etc.

Ordered a bed & dresser for our daughter, and the quality was terrible, especially considering the price. Materials were subpar, fit and finish were poor. Let's say they looked nothing like the pictures in the catalog. Also delivery was a hassle and the shipping charges were pretty high. Customer service was good, but that doesn't ease the pain of having to live with overpriced furniture. We ended up finishing out her room using "Pottery Barn-like" white pieces we found on eBay. MUCH cheaper and better quality, it was worth the wait.

False advertising and slow delivery.
by damonthompson, July 7, 2006

Material facts are misrepresented online and in-store and when this was brought to their attention they replied that this was a known issue and offered no remedy for it. Their customer service personal are better than average but delivery was very slow and late and the product did not meet their own specs even though it was priced very high. The home installation, like the product manufacturing is outsourced so quality control is an issue. It also means that everyone's experience may be different. This is a bad thing from a high end (or at least high priced) furniture store.
My experience is from buying a Rustic Thomas Storage bed. They advertised it as hardwood though it is made of pine. They advertise it as allowing drawers on either side though they can only be installed on one side. The brochure for this bed actually says there are 6 drawers (implying drawers on both sides) though there are only 3. All in all I determined I can't do business with a company that so grossly misrepresents their products so I returned it. I advise caution when dealing with them. |

Furniture items not worth the pain and price of delivery
by harshcritic, February 8, 2006

Shelled out close to $200 in delivery fees for a dresser. Delivery service scheduling sucks. You need to make an appointment for delivery over a week in advance, only to be told the schedule for delivery isn't made until the day before your selected date. So, then they call the day before and give you a FOUR hour window for delivery. Some schedule - why couldn't they have told me to block half a day the week before? The sales associates in the store where the dresser was purchased made the delivery system sound so convenient! Liars!

I have had nothing but good things to say about the entire Pottery Barn Kids family, including store helpfullness and online support.
The closest Pottery Barn Kids store to me is an hour away...In fact it is the only one the north part of Alabama...I have found in comparing prices from the internet and the store in Birmingham, that everything is comparable...When something is on sale on the internet it is also on sale at the actual store...I have had several questions about the products, because I am buying for my first child and I have had swift responses via email. I usually research products online and then look at them in the store, before I purchase them...When I researched enough of the "All Aboard" line from PBK, I drove to Birmingham to look at it in person and was so happy with the service I got...Someone even carried the rug I purchased out to my car! I buy things at Pottery Barn as well and have always been pleased, but nothing like Pottery Barn Kids. |

For small items like bedding sheet sets, decoration, Pottery Barn Kids has done great job in the online shipping business. I think PBK have put energy to develop products for the need of the customers.
I have recently ordered a few items (bed, dresser, bedding, etc) at Pottery Barn Kids. My experience with the delivery, order and customer service have been so embarrassing and disappointed and I hate to say that my overall satisfaction is poor with Pottery Barn Kids. The delivery of the bed order was tried 3 times and still failing at the time I am typing. There were broken materials, wrong message sent to me, wrong parts sent to me, I hope at some day Pottery Barn wakes up and really listen to her customers. For the delivery, it takes ~14 days to ship an item to her local delivery company, and the delivery company takes another ~14 days to schedule and deliver the goods to your home. Compared to my other order with another company, it took a maximum of 7 days to settle down everything including complete delivery to my home. |

An experience worth doing again!! (Which I have) I saw an item online, but had some questions for a "live" person versus sending an e-mail. The customer service rep. was top notch!! She answered all my detailed questions about fabric, size, etc.and then some.
(I normally wouldn't call, because the detailed description online is wonderful, but, I was anxious to order and didn't want to wait another minute for the e-mail response) I placed my order online. The simplicity of the website made it very easy to order. I appreciate the confirmation updates through e-mail. (I can track the package) It arrived sooner than I was told. I did have one item I ordered online that I sent back. Not because of quality, because I realized after it arrived that I ordered the wrong color. It was very easy to send back. The item came with a "Return" label. All I had to pay was the shipping cost. There was not a restocking fee. I am always thrilled with the high quality of the all the products I purchase. I look forward to the online notices and the catalogs since they are my reading pleasure at night. |

Great Online Shopping

This is the best way to shop esp if you have small kids! I hate to drag my son out to the stores esp when I want to really look at things. This web site is super easy to navigate and very detailed about their products! They send you an e-mail letting you know they received your order and another one letting you know when it shipped! Everything I have ever ordered has come in less than a week (unless on backorder and they tell you about that too). The prices are sometimes cheaper than a brick and mortar store and there is a clearance section also. The only place I have ever seen things cheaper is at a Pottery Barn Outlet store. Sometimes Ebay will have an item for auction that is more expensive than the Pottery Barn Kids web page. I highly recommend PBK. The customer service is very helpful should you ever need them and the clearance sections deals are great!
