I pretty much shopped at Petsmart.com just to try it out. I am a regular at petco.com and prefer it over all others. But Petsmart.com has the same prices as they do so I figured it could not hurt to give them a try. I like the look and set up of the site. It is rather nice. It is simple but bold and easy to view.
The items that Petsmart.com sells:
At Petsmart.com you can find pretty much every thing you want for your pet. They have hamster and rabbit supplies, turtle and snake supplies and food, dog and cat supplies. Such as leashes, collars, litter boxes both regular and electronic. They have food, puppy pads, training helpers, treats, cages and crates and much more to offer. The selection is wide and there are a lot of top name brands to choose from.
The prices:
The prices at Petsmart.com are really not much change from the prices that I pay at Petco.com. They are some times a little higher or lower depending on the sales that are going on. They do have some good sales. The prices are fair. I can't complain about that. If purchasing items from a store around here I would not get as good of a deal as I do on the site.
What I bought:
I only purchased a few items from the Petsmart.com site. I bought a blue studded collar and lead to match it. I grabbed a food dish for the tortoise and a few dog toys as well. That was all that I could find that I needed to get at the time which was a few months ago.
Payment options:
The Petsmart.com site lets you make your payment by e-check, or any major credit card. I used a credit card. They are a secure site. There is no need to worry about your information being given to any one else.
Ease of ordering:
It is simple to place an order. Find what you want. Then put the items in your cart by clicking the add to cart tab. Then when you are done shopping you need to check out. They ask you for your shipping and billing information. And you need to pick a shipping option from standard, priority or express. Then complete the order. You will be given an invoice when you check out and also in your email that you gave them when you checked out. In the email will be your order number to keep track of your order and to inquire about your order.
Shipping:
The shipping charges were average priced. I did not pay any more for the priority shipping then I do at Petco.com so I had no complaint about the shipping charges.
However, I did have a lot to complain about with the shipping. It was two weeks for the first box to come to my house. It arrived in what looked like good condition but when I opened the box only the food bowl and the collar was there. The food bowl was broken right in half. It is a ceramic bowl for reptiles. It was no good to me at all in that shape. My other items were not in the box. The bubble wrap used in my order was only one small sheet of it and the items could freely shift in the box.
Returns:
I made a call and gave an email to the customer service. I did get a response quickly from the email but it was hard to understand what they wanted me to do by reading the email. That is when I called them. I was able to find out that I needed to pay for shipping to return the broken item. And they said that the rest was on back order.
I did send the bowl back. I paid the shipping for it. I did not feel that I should have, but they would not give me credit for it. So I took the loss as far as that went.
My end experience:
I ended up getting the rest of my order three weeks later. It was all there including the replaced bowl. This time it had been packaged a little betetr and the bowl was in tact. I was still upset about having paid for the shipping again for the bowl.
My recommendation:
I did not like my experience with the Petsmart.com site. While the prices are good and the items are great. I just can't recommend them after the long wait I had, the broken bowl and the extra money that I had to spend for the shipping. I was really not happy with my experience with this site so I won't recommend them. I have not shopped there again, and do not plan on shopping there again.
