I've been shopping at Petfooddirect.com for about a year or so now, ever since I switched our cats over to Wellness brand cat food that none of the national chain stores in this area carry.
As far as the key points go:
Selection: Massive. Their advertising claims they carry 86 brands and 11,000+ products, which doesn't seem like an exaggeration.
Pricing: For the particular product I order 90% of the time - the aforementioned Wellness canned cat food - the price offered is either equal to or slightly less than what it would cost to buy at one of the handful of specialty pet food stores in the area that actually carries the brand. Discounts are constantly offered ranging from about 12-20%, which is usually enough to equate to (almost) free shipping.
Delivery: Handled by UPS just about every time except once or twice through the USPS. No problems whatsoever beyond the occasional screwups that are known to happen with the aforementioned shippers and not the fault of the store.
Delivery Speed: Could be faster (takes 3-5 business days before an order ships), but again, once it's shipped it's really out of their hands and is usually the consistent 3-4 days from their warehouse in PA to my home in VA that I would expect when using UPS.
Order Accuracy: Perfect. Always have gotten exactly what I ordered.
Customer Service: The few times I have called to check the status of an order, the people answering the phone have been friendly and helpful. Their handling of shipping notification leaves a bit to be desired, however - by the time I receive an email saying the order is shipped, it's already on a local truck to be delivered the next morning.
Overall: Basically, unless you happen to be buying something that is heavily discounted or on a massive sale, etc., you're pretty much paying the same price you would in a normal store, with the free bonus of not having to actually go to the store - which is worth it to me, since I tend to keep enough food on hand for the kitties to not be bothered by the wait for shipping. Obviously if you need more food immediately, you're better off going to a real store, especially if you're buying a non-specialty product.
