We recently ordered two sets of pens from PensXpress. We received a discount for ordering a large number of pens. Their website clearly stated that imprinting charges were free (normally $20).
We paid the amount by credit card and printed their "e-receipt" after confirming the order. The next morning we received an email saying that since our order was "considered 2 separate orders" they had charged us an additional $20, and said it would be added to our credit card.
So, without asking for confirmation, they were planning on charging this extra amount to the credit card. We had already placed the order, and this put us in a tough position.
After several emails back and forth with their "live help." They said they would take off the twenty dollar fee, but charge us an extra $0.01 per pen. Since we were between a rock and a hard place, we had to order them anyway. I was extremely dissatisfied with their customer service and tech support in the whole matter.
In the end, they still used a bait and switch type tactic to up their rates AFTER WE CONFIRMED PAYMENT. This shows a lack of ethics and care for their customers. I have considered filing a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission, except for the fact that at this point I have already wasted enough time with this company. Maybe I will, after my order finally arrives.
