SuzyKats: The Easy Way To Get Your Reward Many Years Later

A review by navinthebean written on Oct 14, 2001

Pros:  They do pay.

Cons:  Slow earning; Some parts of the website take forever to load.

The Bottom Line:  SuzyKats used to be great, but now it's not really worth my time.

I have always been interested in rewards programs --- they are easy ways to make a buck here and there; And when you do a lot of them simultaneously, boy, do things add up! Recently I joined a couple more, SuzyKats among the few. I hadn't heard very many good things about it, but I thought I'd try it myself and see how it went.

Guess what? I was as disappointed as everyone else expected me to be.

SuzyKats gives you points in exchange for answering trivia questions, visiting websites, signing up for offers and for shopping. These points can be redeemed for various items --- ranging from mostly gift certificates to magazine subscriptions and web/super certificates. I myself am interested in the Amazon gift certificates, which cost 500-2500 points, but at the rate I'm able to earn points, I don't think I'll ever be able to get one.

Visiting websites is probably the simplest way to earn points. There are weekly and monthly websites available --- meaning that you can only get credit for visiting them once in a week, or once in a month. You have to wait at each website for at least a minute to be credited for it. What makes this task unbearable is that this section loads painfully slow. Added to that, there aren't many weekly or monthly sites so, once you're through with them, you have to wait ages to get more points this way. Other rewards programs of this type are different in that they have daily and weekly websites instead of weekly and monthly --- points add up much quicker there.

The daily trivia questions aren't exactly fun either. They aren't general knowledge questions or anything along those lines. To answer these, you have to visit yet another sponsor website where you'll find the answer. Sort of like Sklif. For example, my trivia question for today was:
"Question: When you sign up for your free account with JobNext.com, the premier employment site you get a chance to win:
(You can find the answer at the following site: Click here)"
And then you had to choose between: "$1,000 $5,000 $10,000 $15,000"
The points for this question are not credited immediately, but rather after 15-30 days, and are distributed based on the overall member activity at the sponsor’s website.

Then there’s Trivia #2 that is alleged to be much more difficult but which is hardly ever available. If you answer this question correctly you’ll be credited with 10 points within 24 hours. The downside: it costs five hard-earned points just to enter.

The shopping section contains a list of around 400 online merchants where you can shop and earn points at the same time. The points earned for shopping at each merchant varies, with some rewarding per purchase and others per dollar spent. Also depending on the merchant, points will be credited either automatically within 7-30 days or after you fill in a reimbursement form. Many well-known merchants, like Amazon, Borders, and Adidas, are listed but you won't earn any points at SuzyKats by shopping there. Nothing for me to do here, therefore --- I only do my online shopping at reputed places.

If you sign up for special offers, you'll be able to earn anywhere from 5-1000 points. Again, points are credited in 7-30 days. I couldn't get much done here either, because I had already signed up for most of the things I was interested in, like Netflip, PlanetFeedback and Blink.

You'll also get 20 points for referring someone to SuzyKats --- but only after they have earned 100 or more points.

All in all, I don't really care for SuzyKats ... there are so many more rewards programs that are way better than this one ... why waste my time?

But although it might take a quite a while to get enough points to cash in, SuzyKats does pay in the end. I myself have not got enough points to get a reward, but have been told by several people that they received their gift certificates in 3-4 weeks time. So, if you have the patience, go for it!
