One Step Ahead

I have been very disappointed.  I ordered an item they reported as being in stock, and two weeks later I'm still waiting for it to ship.  When I contact customer service, I get curt replies that the item will ship in the next 1-2 days, but it never does.  Hopefully my son won't have outgrown the toy by the time it arrives, assuming it ever does.  I expect better service, and I don't plan to ever order from this company again.

I had a very bad experience with this  company. My wooden doll house was defected , with splinters and items were missing. I was able to returned it but they didn't reimburse THE SHIPPING!! Hello the product was DEFECTED. TERRIBLE Costumer Service.

Yet, they do not pay for return shipping. Do NOT buy from this company. Cannot be trusted.

I ordered THE SHIELD FINGER GUARD which had **** glowing reviews on their website. This product was one of the worst baby safety products I ever had. Although they are supposed to stay in place while opening or closing doors, they would pop off as soon as the door was moved. I returned the product, but was out the cost of shipping.

I tried to post a negative review for this product, but they do not post negative reviews. I do not trust a merchant that only publishes positive feedback. I am very disappointed because I often rely on the posted feedback to see what others thought of a product. This is a very deceptive practice.

The selection of products and overall website is fine, but do not purchase anything on this website if you do not already know the performance of the product. Or, be sure to research the product from a more reputable source that will supply both positive and negative feedback. I can only assume they write their own reviews without even testing out these products. I find this very disappointing in particular for a company that sells baby safety products.

I've shopped with One Step Ahead several times now and purchased some great products there that I really like - I have not seen some of these products anywhere else. But my experience has not been all positive. In my last order I received a Potty Watch whose batteries were on their last legs - it worked for about 5 minutes. And the business does not seem to publish reviews that are less than glowing. Several times now, I have attempted to publish a non-controversial 3-star review there, and it has not appeared either time (despite being registered and logged in at the site). I have lost trust in this merchant and will not be shopping with them again.

I have ordered from One Step Ahead on two occasions. The first time, it took several days for my order to be processed and 3 times as long to finally receive it. I thought that perhaps that was just bad luck on my part so I went ahead and ordered from them a second time. Same experience as before. It took 4 days (not the 1 day as they stated in my confirmation email) to process my order and here it is day 8 and it hasn't shown up yet. They have a very funky shipping practice where the package starts out with FedEx but ends up being handed off to USPS. Not to mention that the shipping costs are higher than at other merchants. You would expect with the amount they charge for shipping you would get your order in a more timely manner! I probably won't shop with them again unless they have something I can't get elsewhere and I don't mind waiting forever and a day to get it.

I love One Step Ahead. I have been shopping with them for 4 years now. Their products are often unique. I have purchased a variety of things over the years and have never been disappointed. Their online store is great, easy to find things, easy to order. Their selection of items is huge and very nice. We have gotten puzzles, food preparation items, toys, household needs, and everything has lived up to its expectations. Highly recommend this store. It may seem a little pricey on some things, but it is worth every penny. Shipping times are great, I always have received my items well withing the time stated.

They charged me shipping fee although I used their free shipping coupon. I had to contact them to get reimbursed. This was not the first time it had happened. Their products used to be very unique and special so I didn't mind paying higher price and shipping. However, there are other online stores that sell the same type of items a lot cheaper now. I would buy from One Step Ahead again if I find free shipping or discount coupons but not without them.

The doll house for my daughter unfortunately arrived in its original packaging. Thinking it would be shipped in an ordinary brown box, I allowed her to open the door when the itms from One-Step-Ahead were delivered and she saw the doll house, spoiling the surprise.

When looking for unique need to find items... they always have the item. Their search engine is excellent. I would recommend this site to anyone who has a baby-toddler and above.

I ordered a bike seat from onestepahead.com, and so far I'm pretty disappointed with them. Their website states that they ship items via FedEx ground, and it takes 5-9 business days. I never received an email confirmation (therefore I have no receipt) from them, and when I called, the customer service folks were pretty rude. Each time I called, I got a different estimate of delivery time ranging from 4-10 business days. And it's not from the day you order, it's from the day they finally get around to shipping it (which takes FOREVER). They also told me they don't use FedEx--they just drop it in the mail. If you BEG (and I do mean BEG) for a tracking number, they'll give it to you, but the USPS doesn't provide up to date tracking info. All it says is that they were contacted to EXPECT the package for shipping.

This is the absolute LAST time I'm ordering from this vendor. I should have shopped around!

It was disappointing that part of the Halloween costume I purchased was unavailable, while the other part (useless alone) was shipped to me. The return process was inconvenient--I was directed to drive to a specific Fedex location, which turned out to be the incorrect location for this type of transaction. When I called to complain, my money was refunded without the return being necessary. So while the transaction was unsatisfactory, I feel it was resolved in a satisfactory manner and I would order from this company again.

I was really disappointed and the sad part is I like the catalog and probably would have purchased more items from them in the future. I found the customer service to be sorely lacking when I tried to exchange an item. I had used an online coupon and even though I was making an even exchange (different color item) I would have been forced to pay more money for the item because the coupon was not valid for the exchange. So in essence, One Step Ahead was punishing me for using an online coupon. The ironic thing is they offer "Free and Easy Exchange" but my experience was neither free nor easy. Very disappointing.

I ordered a halloween costume in 3 parts: the body, the wig and the shoe covers. I received the body and the wig together in a timely fashion, however, our Halloween party was quickly approaching and I never received the shoe covers. I had to make a phone call to find out when they were coming. The Customer Service woman told me that they were cancelled because they were out of stock. I was irritated that NOBODY bothered to contact me to tell me this. I shouldn't have had to call to find out that information. I love One Step Ahead's products so I will continue to shop there. But that mishap bothered me very much.

Shopping on your website was a good experience, but it is completely unacceptable that the product I purchased has not arrived yet and it has been more than two weeks. One step ahead should know the exact location of the package that they are shipping. All parcel services are capable of tracking what the items they ship.
