After redoing our kitchen, I ordered a new table and chairs online from One Way Furniture. I had been shopping around for a while and was unable to find exactly what I had in mind, so I was very happy to find a nice set at a good price. What really sealed the deal was that you pay a $6.99 service fee, but shipping is free - something important to keep in mind when ordering heavy items like that.
The table and chairs were delivered with no problem. The confirmation I received stated that the delivery people would not bring the furniture
into the house, they would only leave it at the doorstep. Somehow, though, my husband got them to carry the boxes into the house.
The furniture is good quality, solid wood. I assembled all the furniture easily, set it up in the kitchen, and thought the process was over.
Almost
ten months later, I received a letter in the mail from the company that had shipped the furniture. (One Way Furniture uses a 3rd party shipping company.) Apparently, they had been trying the whole time to collect $111.30 in freight charges from One Way Furniture. According to the shipping company, it had become my responsibility to pay the charges by the end of the month. I spent several days trying to contact people at One Way Furniture, and they kept closing my help requests without offering a resolution. Finally, I spoke to someone named Brian who told me his company was aware of the problem and would be working with the shipping company. Apparently there was a discrepancy and some of their payments to the shippers were held up. The shipping company was contacting One Way Furnitures customers in an attempt to get to One Way Furniture.
So, while I had a fine experience ordering the furniture and am still very happy with what I got, though I wonder a little how the company is being run if nearly a year goes by that they hadn't paid their freight bills.
