Completely inept customer service

Took advantage of their Thanksgiving Day online shopping for Black Friday deals. Purchased a Lenovo IdeaPad and was told it would be delivered on 12/2. I actually went to a store on the afternoon of Black Friday and saw the product in stock and on the shelf. Today, I went online to check delivery status and found out the tablet is backordered with no notice or additional information. I contacted customer service to see if I could get the delivery address changed as I am headed out of town and didn't want to miss any potential delivery. I was told by Bryan that changing the address (on a backordered item that isn't even in stock) would cancel the order and I would lose the sale price. No other information or help was available even though stores within 60 miles of me had plenty in stock! So I canceled the order and purchased from another store with cyber-Monday specials.
I found Office Depot completely inept and unwilling to help make this right. |

I've had a really bad experience with office depot which is probably nothing short of robbery. I ordered a 5 shelf magellan book case on their website. They got the order wrong the first time, so I arranged for them to pick up the wrong item (it was a steel storage cabinet) and get me the right one. The new package arrived, I was assured it was the right one, but when I opened it, it was the steel cabinet again. I was really upset and let them know - they said the warehouse would call me about my order and deliver the correct item immediately. It's been a week and I've gotten no calls, everytime I call them, they keep shuttling me among various departments. I think this is highly unethical, especially since they admit they are wrong but don't seem to be doing anything to fix it.

I've had too many problems with Office Depot too. It has cost them money because they are incompetent.
Missing orders, wrong addresses by their shippers, etc. Last week ordered a new desktop PC. First they quoted 1 day shipping, then 3 day which turned to six days, the today I see it came into their warehouse and will be here NEXT WEEK. I wont be here next week. They can't cancel the shipment. well we're not paying for it. Already ordered the same PC from another vendor, will be here tomorrow. They can either pick up their PC or it stays here if it ever arrives but it will not be paid for. HEY, want a free pc, order it from them! |

I ordered a bookcase from Office Depot for my home office and delivery was scheduled for 1/14/10. I did not receive a call on 1/13 advising me of a delivery time so I called Office Depot to get that information. I was told that the delivery had been rescheduled by their 3rd part delivery company for the 15th. No explanation was avaliable why the delivery was rescheduled or why I was not notified. Customer service did notate my account and asked me to call back after delivery for a credit of the shipping charge due to the inconvenience.
The product was delivered during the rescheduled time and arrived in good condition. Assembly was easy to perform without any assistance and the product is a step up from the lightweight bookcases found at some big box retailers. Overall, I am satisfied with the product. I called Office Depot customer service this morning and they issued a refund of the shipping charge as promised. While I am still not happy with having to rearrange my work schedule two days in a row, Office Depot did what they could by way of an apology. This is good customer care but it also higlights an opportunity to improve communications so that this doesn't happen again. |

Shop at Office Depot all the time, online, in the store - and have NEVER had any of the problems that others have written about - yes, I have had to return an item or two and have had no problems getting a new item or getting funds returned. Their workplace rewards program is just great! We have saved a lot of money for our small business.

I ordered the HP Notebook from OfficeDepot.Com on Thanksgiving. I was suppose to get it last week, but NOTHING! Today is the 8th and they guaranteed 3 days shipping. Its been 11 days since I ordered the notebook. I have checked my order online and it still says pending. There is no tracking number or anything. I called 3 times and they said "oh someone will call you tomorrow from 8:30-11." I recieved no such phone call. Customer service reps were unhelpful and give you attitude. The customer reps can't do anything, only make dumb little notes. When you call other companies they have all the information on their fingertips. Officedepot has different departments and whatever whatever. DO NOT SHOP ONLINE!

This is regarding pathetic customer service by Office Depot - I ordered Lenovo Notebook online from Office depot. Got Order Confirmation After 10 days no one bothered to call back and when I called they said the item was not in inventory. After calling several times someone from Resolution team actually booked a new order for me. this time again after 10 days no one called and my order was cancelled due to Item not in inventory - How can office depot do this to customers? Twice they have cancelled my orders, even when resolution team themselves placed the order - I lost a good deal from Compusa because of Office Depot & then no one actually bothers to inform - How Pathetic !!!! shame on office depot for treating customers like this

Bad business practice. Same deal with me as with many others. They offered a monitor I wanted. I ordered it. I only received a confirmation email that I had ordered. Upon looking several days later I find that my order had been canceled. This was to be a birthday surprise for my husband. Imagine my surprise when I did not get any kind of cancellation notice and no present. Very unethical and dubious business practice with legal implications. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME! All they have done is use my email address from the order to spam me with useless advertising.

Horrible experience. Plastic file box shows up from their warehouse not over-packed. it was broken in a number of places. Customer service folks barely speak English and have terrible time figuring out what is going on in their own systems. One product was backordered and after three weeks I called customer service to find out the product was canceled by Office Depot. The rep (who barely spoke English) asked if I wanted to reorder. I bailed out and had enough at that point.

This is the worst experience!!! I ordered an office chair which arrived in 2 days as expected... But it came damaged. I called the customer service department and they sent UPS to pick it up 2 days later. Then I was told that after they received the product they would then credit my account. OK sounds good right, NOT! I called back after a week. And then they were stating that it would be 5-10 days longer. OK, now I'm really MAD. I called back 3 weeks later, and then they had the nerve to tell me on the phone after a 5 min wait that the credit department just approved my credit and I would have to wait another 5-7 days. At that moment, I blew up... as of today, I have not received my money. PLEASE DO NOT SHOP HERE. THEY STEAL YOUR MONEY! Unbelievably poor service. They are quick to take your money, and their product back but will not give yours back! Watch Out ....

Ordered a calculator on-line. It was advertised as having a rebate. After ordering, I printed the rebate form from the website. I mail it in with my receipts. Two months later it was rejected because the rebate was good "at Office Depot only." I assumed the www.OfficeDepot.com was Office Depot. But they refused to pay my rebate.

I had ordered a set of headphones that I needed as a present a few weeks in advance because the website said that it would need to be ordered. Initially, they emailed to say they had placed the order & charged my card. After 1 week, they emailed again & decided that they couldn't get the headphones. By then, they had already charged my card. I called them & they claimed that they would not charge the card, which was fixed. A month later, another charge appeared on my card for the headphones that I never received. I had to call the company again to tell them they had charged me for something I never purchased.
I was extremely disappointed in their lack of service & incompetence in dealing with a simple order that I will never again order from them. |

A TOTAL JOKE!!! I wasted an hour on the website and on their automated phone registration. The "voice recognition system" does recognize anything and there are about 20 steps! I called the store that I purchased from, and the manager was completely unhelpful and said that he had customers in store that took priority -- and that he would only be able to help if I drove to the store. Hey Office Depot: you owe me an hour you piece of crap! I'm going to throw my new office chair through your freaking store window!

Terrible customer service policy. I purchased a VTech ia5845 cordless phone system. It proved to be defective. When I took it back to the store (within 3o days), they wouldn't take it back, saying I had to return it within 14 days.
Manufacturer also won't take it back, saying it needs to go back to the store. If you purchase through a retail store, VTech won't provide a refund. So, I am stuck with an expensive lemon! Think twice about purchasing from these unreputable companies. They don't stand by their products. |

I'm having a nightmare of an experience with Office Depot. I ordered some items online several weeks ago. Some no-doubt low paid employee put the credit card through twice, and try as I might, I can not get them to refund the money. All the customer reps can do--even 2nd level reps (whatever that means) and alleged supervisors/managers--is put in a report to the billing department, then I have to wait for a phone call. There is doubt that this ghostly billing department even exists: days have passed with no communication from them and no one has access to them or can offer a phone number where they can be reached. They admit the duplicate charge was a mistake on their part, and they hope to credit it within 7 business days, but ultimately it's not their department and I have to 'wait for a call.' Unheard of! It takes them 30 seconds to charge the card upon placement of an order, but if they screw up as they did in my case and 'steal' your money, good luck getting it back.

Office Depot is usually great for your standard office supplies. However, I ordered a Uniden Tru9466 (Expandable cordless 2-line phone system) and two additional handsets from their online store, and was told it would be delivered in two days (Friday). Friday comes and goes - no phones - I call on Monday and they tell me the product has been discontinued! Nice of them to inform me. I cancel my order. A few hours later, the two additional handsets arrive - useless without the main phone system. Eye-rollingly frustrating. I'm planning to order the phone system from Amazon.
