I ordered some supplies and a small dual CD stereo system, online, recently. This was my first order from OFFICE DEPOT.

At one time, OFFICE DEPOT stores were located in my area, but not anymore.

I usually go to OFFICE MAX, which is located locally, or one of several eletronic retailers. However, a nice little Dual CD Stereo that was on sale at OFFICE DEPOT caught my eye, so I decided to place an order through them.

My order arrived in 2 boxes, via UPS. The office supplies arrived in a small box. They were in perfect condition. Packing material was sufficient, consisting of inflated air bags.

The second box was the Dual CD Stereo. This unit arrived SMASHED UP and BROKEN. Pieces of plastic from a speaker grille were everywhere.

The Stereo was sent in its ORIGINAL BOX. This box is VERY FLIMSY and offered LITTLE PROTECTION from damage.

I called OFFICE DEPOT. They sent a pick-up order for the damaged unit, and a replacement unit as well. Both arrived the next day.

When I called OFFICE DEPOT, I specified that I believe the Stereo should be DOUBLE BOXED for shipment.

The replacement Stereo arrived in a DOUBLE BOX. However, upon opening the box, I found NO PACKING MATERIALS WHATSOEVER INSIDE. OFFICE DEPOT simply THREW A NEW UNIT INTO A LARGER BOX AND SEALED IT!

I opened the replacement Stereo box, only to find it HORRIBLY DAMAGED. MUCH WORSE THAN THE FIRST. The Stereo's entire outer casing was smashed. It looked as if someone did this deliberately.

I called OFFICE DEPOT again. This time I told them I want the ENTIRE ORDER RETURNED.

I will NOT do business with a company that wastes my time.

If OFFICE DEPOT can pack small office supplies so nicely, then the obvious question is, why can't they properly pack a delicate electronic appliance?

It does not take a brain surgeon to see that the original packaging is extremely flimsy. It also requires no special IQ to place some packaging materials around a fragile piece of electronics.

What was going to be a happy experience, turned out to be a real pain in the rear.

Now, I have to be home to make sure the items are properly picked-up by UPS. I am inconvenienced because of OFFICE DEPOT's poor shipping procedures. Also, the CREDIT to my account will not be credited until about 72 hours AFTER OFFICE DEPOT receives the returned goods. Inconvenienced again.

I would advise anyone considering to order any type of electronic device from OFFICE DEPOT to seriously consider looking elsewhere.

This was my first, and last, order from the OFFICE DEPOT.
