I needed two batteries for my Sony laptop. Notebookparts.com's price was the best of the bunch posted on the Web, but enough below that of the next cheapest offering that I decided to call the company before ordering. I asked them two questions--(1) Was the Sony PCGA-BP2NY battery I wanted really a SONY product or a replacement product manufactured by someone else. ANSWER: "It's a genuine Sony VAIO product." (2) Do you have any in stock at the moment? ANSWER: "Yes, we do." I then asked them, "Do you have two. I need two of them and it's imperative that I receive them within 7 business days." The guy said he'd check, put me on hold and came back a couple of minutes later and said, "We've got a bunch of them. You can have as many as you want."
When, five or six days later, I checked my account status on their website, I discovered my order was labeled PROCESSING. I called them and asked whether PROCESSING meant that it hadn't even been shipped yet. The guy put me on hold, came back and said that that was correct, that the order hadn't been shipped because the batteries were back-ordered and they weren't sure when they were getting them in. They were supposed to have arrived three days ago, according to him, but their supplier wasn't communicating with them. When I told him I was disgusted, that I'd been guaranteed that the batteries were in stock when I placed the order, he said "Our definition of 'in stock' includes whether our supplier has them in stock. He does but he hasn't shipped them to us yet." That was about the biggest crock of ---- that anyone has tried to sell me over the Internet in the past 5 years. I'll never do business with this company again.
