Nordstrom's customer service is outstanding, in my opinion. More so compare to Neimann Marcus or Bloomingdale. This outstanding service also branched out to their online store. That's probably why I almost always found myself browsing their website to do some online-window-shopping, before I hit other online stores.
I might be a shopaholic. A smart one, in my defense. My one dirty tip for other fellow shoppers: never purchase things at a full price. They will, and I know this for certain, have that merchandise on sale. Sooner or later. OK, so sometimes luck is not on our side - because, by the time it goes on sale, they no longer have our size. So what? Tough luck. Move on.
Here's what I like about Nordstrom.com:
The SALE section:
When Nordstrom.com has SALE, it is indeed, SALE. I had my eyes on this cocktail dress, and they had it at 70% off. Yes, you read it right - 70%. OFF. Sweet!! So, when you open your browser to Nordstrom.com, ignore anything else - pay attention to that SALE tab and click on it. You'd be happy you did.
Everything is so easy to navigate and very user friendly. You can search stuff based on price range, color, % sale, size, etc. Or if you have lots of time to kill, feel free to just browse per department (remember: always start with their SALE section!). Once you are a registered customer, you can create a wish list and share it to certain people that might get you one of the items from the list for Christmas, - or, keep it to yourself so you can go back to your list and see if the item is now on sale or not. If you ever get frustrated, they also have a chat function that will allow you to chat with a customer service rep.
This is probably what I like the most from Nordstrom.com. To avoid S&H charge(s), for most items they would offer 'buy online - pick up at the store'. If you're like me, dislike to browse/walk in a crowded store, this service is really handy. You can select an item, then see if they have it available at the store near you (punch in your address or just zip code). Select the store you'd like to pick it up from, purchased your item online, then wait until you receive an e-mail and/or a phone call confirming that your item is ready to be picked up, then jump in your car and off you go. The merchandise you purchased is usually ready to be picked up from the customer service counter. From a numerous pick-ups I have had, it only took them a day (maximum) to full fill my online order and have it ready at the store.
They are all great. In-store customer service, online chat customer service, phone customer service. Friendly, and always try their best to solve any problems you might encounter, or offer alternative solutions. Top notch.
I always opted for the cheapest shipping, or free - whenever I'm eligible for it, and I always get my order within 5 working days. Their standard policy is free shipping for orders $200 and above, but from time to time they will have specials - like what they currently have now: free shipping for all of your orders (obviously need to be in one order) with shoes purchase, regardless the price. Or free shipping with any beauty products. Otherwise, a flat rate of $8.00 is applied, and they will ship it UPS ground.
I rarely use the exchange/return label they provided. I usually just drag the item to the nearest store, and make the exchange/return there. Nordstrom has a no muss no fuss return policy, which is great. If you use the label provided, they will deduct $6 from the refund amount. Which I think is still pretty reasonable. But if you do the exchange, they will not bill you for the S&H.
I have shopped at Nordstrom.com countless times, and will keep on doing so (unless they change their policy or something). A very satisfied customer, indeed.
