It had never been my destination. I had never visited though I was familiar with the name. Yet by serendipitous fortune I ended up there in my quest for a new dehumidifier. I had decided on a make and model, and it was just a matter of determining from where and how much. To my surprise Newegg had the lowest price by far for the Soleus dehumidifier, even beating Amazon by about fifty dollars. The free shipping offer was enough to convince me to make my purchase from Newegg, especially after seeing all the positive Newegg reviews on Epinions.

Anything you could possibly want to find is easy to access from the Home page. Whether you’re looking for information, products, FAQs, contact information, specials, reviews, or special deals, what you seek is only a click away. Getting back to your original page or moving on to another Newegg area is quite easy and intuitive.

On the home page you’ll find a search feature to plug in specific products, links to your account, specials of the day, top searches, what’s new in the product categories, and at the bottom of the page links for customer service, shopping help, my account, company information, and tools and resources. I like that there are multiple links to access important information so that if you overlook one link, you’ll probably find the other in short order.
 
Selection

Across the top of the screen are drop down menus for product categories. The expanded categories with links are also neatly displayed in the middle of the screen. Product categories are: computer hardware, electronics, PCs and laptops, cell phones, digital cameras, networking, gaming, home and garden, and specials.

Available brands and models by no means approaches the size of that offered by places like Amazon or Buy.com. In my search for dehumidifiers I noticed fewer brands and models on Newegg than on Amazon, but better prices on Newegg. You’ll also notice that a wider selection is offered on Newegg than at almost all brick and mortar stores. Newegg offers over twenty dehumidifier models while I only found two models on display at the local Home Depot, BJ’s, and Sears.

Pricing

I found pricing to be excellent on most items. You’ll be hard pressed to find better prices on any Newegg item in a local store, and you’ll find most prices comparable to or better than those found on other sites.

Shipping

Shipping speed is incredible. Read site comments and other reviews of Newegg to find glowing praise of Newegg’s shipping. My dehumidifier arrived within two days of ordering. Amazing stuff!
 
Returns

To return an item you’ll need prior authorization and an RMA number. Item must be returned in the original packaging within thirty days, with receipt and UPC code intact on the package. There’s a 15% restocking fee. When I bought  my dehumidifier, Newegg made if very clear that any issues I had with the appliance had to be addressed to Soleus, not Newegg. Be sure to read and understand all return policies before making a purchase.

My Experience

Newegg offers a good selection of dehumidifiers with details information about each. A shopper can compare models on Newegg and view photos of each model in regular or enlarged mode. The photos show the products from various views. I like that most of the  dehumidifiers had  close up pictures of the control panel to view. Customer reviews also makes choosing an item on Newegg easier though the number of reviews available for each item is uneven.
When I finally ordered the dehumidifier checkout was a no-brainer, even for me. The free shipping bonus made calculations even easier and faster. The speed of delivery was impressive; I placed the order on a Tuesday evening and received the package via UPS on the next Thursday. The dehumidifier’s box was intact and unbent but the dehumidifier itself had a gap in the plastic cabinet where a tab was misaligned. I fixed it myself using a long screwdriver.
 
Finally – I’m very pleased with my Newegg experience and plan to make future purchases there. Special deals are offered every day, so it pays to visit the site often.
