I ordered an ottoman in January. It is now April and I still have not received the order. I sent an email inquiry asking as to the status of my order, to which I was told it was "in their docks". This was 7 days ago, and I still have not received any notice of shipment. I do not understand why it takes 3 months to assemble and deliver an ottoman, there are far more complex things assembled and delivered in a lesser time frame.
Additionally, the "order status" given when i log into my account online is ridiculously vague. I've been looking at the same order status of "paid/unshipped" for 3 months now. Is it too much to ask for a little more detail? As in, is it still being assembled by the manufacturer? Or is it sitting in their docks, waiting to be shipped? What is the hold-up? Why does it take 3 months to put together one single ottoman when a whole sectional set can be assembled in the same amount of time?
To their credit, whenever i have sent an email inquiry asking about my order, i got a response within a day or so - even if they were vague "your order is on track" type of responses.
I have been an online shopper for at least 6 or 7 years now, and this really has been the most frustrating online purchase experience I've ever encountered to date. I don't know if it's the lack of information or the length of time to deliver the item that frustrates me more. I believe if they gave me an approximate date of delivery rather than tell me "you'll get a notice of shipment when it's ready", I'd be more satisfied. I've had to wait on items to be crafted for online orders before, but I've always been provided with a date of delivery, and that's always met my expectations. This experience has not.
I would recommend Modabode to a friend because of their selection and pricing, but i definitely would not recommend purchasing something that is not in stock.
05/04/2009: Still have not received any notice of shipment. They have officially extended past the time frame originally presented when I made the purchase. (May 1st was the absolute last day of the time frame given).
05/06/2009: Received a notice of shipment with tracking number. Although there is no estimated "date of arrival" anywhere on the email, or on the shipper's tracking page. Maybe i have been spoiled by all the other companies of which i have been an online customer in the past several years.... i have just come to expect fast service, as well as definite delivery dates/times. To not receive this level of service is pretty disappointing. And I have bought and ordered furniture having an extended delivery period before, but they said "your order will be delivered on mm/dd/yyyy", and clearly set my expectations right off the bat. And then met those expectations, or in some cases, exceeded them. It's so frustrating dealing with a business who does not do that.
5/13/2009: Received the bench. It looks good, exactly as pictured and described online. I'm still baffled as to why it took nearly 4 months to get it, as it is a very simple looking bench (the reason why i wanted it in the first place). Overall, even though I like the bench, I would have to say my experience was less than satisfactory and I probably will not shop with Modabode again. I'm still unhappy with the fact that it took so long to deliver, that they were late with the delivery, and that i practically had to beg for status updates on my order.
