I placed an order with Mercantila over one month ago. I have had repeated emails saying the order is received, is shipping, is backordered. My credit card was charged on the day of the order. My email inquiry was not answered. I just called and cancelled the order. They could give no explanation for my experience. And it will take 4 business days for them to credit my credit card!

On May 4, 2007 I ordered a briefcase on their website from The Brown Box. This was 4 weeks ago. The order was confirmed by by the subject of this review, but has never been shipped. I have called their customer service at 800-718-1710 and emailed them and never received any response.

My experience was the worst in 20 years of shopping on line. I wish I had seen these opinions before ordering.
I ordered a computer bag (expensive) and then started reading on line. 20 minutes later I canceled the order. That was May 7. I refused the package and the warehouse received it on May 17. They claim they are still waiting for receipt confirmation from the warehouse. However, last Friday and Wednesday I received different answers that they were going to refund my credit card immediately. I feel bad for CS - they just answer the phone in India and have no authority to do anything at all. BEWARE! |

An Elliptical trainer was ordered on April 4th, 2007 - a birthday gift for my fiance.......Seven weeks later and still NO ELLIPTICAL TRAINER - "Yeah, HAPPY BIRTHDAY HONEY". After arriving TWO weeks later than the expected arrival date - the box looked like it had been drug behind the back of the truck on its intra-state journey. Dealing with customer service was not a bad experience - I believe they do the best that they can. However, this has been the WORST shopping experience of my life. I will NEVER shop here again. Just reading "Mercantila" makes me want to jab a pencil in my eye and die of lead poisoning. So, the "product replacement" arrived yesterday after 43 days since the order was placed........Gee, I can't wait to see if all of the parts are there and if the Elliptical trainer actually works.

I ordered through the High Chair Store, which just happens to be Mercantila. They charged my credit card and I did not get any follow up on my order. A week later I finally got a hold of a CSR who gave me misinformation. It's taken over 2 weeks to even get a refund begun to process. So I still do not have a credit back to me yet. I had to cancel my order because they could never confirm a date for shipping. Very poor customer service and very poor business practices!

Customer Services is in the toilet. They shift the blame and act like they have done nothing wrong. Bought a massage table, They misrepresent their products. What they say on their web site, is completely different than what you recieve. They say free shipping, but when your not happy with the product you recieved( because they lied about what you were getting), they charge for the shipping that was suppose to be free, and the return shipping. Please do yourself the favor and do not purchase form them. Share this with your friends and family, so they are not shafted. |

I would NEVER recommend Mercantila to anyone, I bought a desk in February and they delivered the wrong product twice!! I called every day for over a month for them to pick up the boxes and then asked for a refund which they have until this day not given me. The customer service is in India so they take forever to plan pick-ups and make refunds.

I received great service at Mercantila online store. My elliptical was delivered within a week of placing my order, it was accurate, no damage whatsoever and I was able to track it each step of the way. An appointment was set up for delivery and it was met. I look forward to shopping with Mercantila again anytime.

I ordered a Schwinn 113 exercise bike on Sun. and received it a week later on Mon. via BAX. Mercantila did what they promised on their web site - next day free shipping. The only minor complaint I have is, that it took them 3 days before the sent me a tracking number. I guess I was just a little nervous, after reading about all the bad experience other people had with Mercantila.

I recently completed researching which brand propane gas grill to purchase. Once, I decided on the make and model I done some comparison shopping at our local box stores and on the web for the same model. I was shocked at all the offerings on the web; but Mercantila had the lowest price, included free shipping, and no sales tax. It was by far my best choice. Once, I placed the order I received instant confirmation and daily updates as to the shipping date via email. I just received the grill yesterday (2-19-07). I orginally placed the order on Saturday 2-10-07. I was delighted with my shopping experience and suggest others to consider Mercantila.

Ordering from this company has been a NIGHTMARE! I ordered a product OVER 3 MONTHS AGO. I have never received a CORRECT tracking number (my name isn't Chuck and I am not from Maryland - although, they thought that was my number) and I have never received any firm information on where my product is. The customer service is the worst I have ever experienced in my entire life. Yes, maybe I should take some blame for ordering online, but when I have to call, (after I have been promised a phone call - multiple times - never came) sit on hold to hear "I don't know" then it just isn't worth it. One time I FINALLY got transferred to the manager, whom quickly transferred me back to a customer service rep. without telling me. This is the worst experience I have ever had and I would definitely suggest you look elsewhere for products!!!! I actually wonder what the product quality is...if I ever receive it!

I ordered an elliptical trainer on a Saturday and it was delivered the following Friday. Unfortunately, a lot of pieces were broken and I could not use it until the manufacturer shipped replacement parts which took another week. The product works fine now thanks to the manufacturer, not Mercantila.
As part of my purchase I was supposed to receive a free exercise mat and $100 gift certificate. Mercantila listed the items as pending shipment on the order status page I received from them. After 12 email inquiries and a phone message to Mercantila customer service asking about the missing items I have been completely ignored. Instead, they changed my order status to indicate that they fulfilled the order and nothing is pending. Since the missing items factored into my decision to buy from Mercantila I believe they defrauded me. Based upon my experience with Mercantila, I can say without any hesitation that they are absolutely the worst merchant (online or local) I have ever dealt with. Although their prices may be enticing, you take a big risk by ordering anything from them. I recommend steering clear, I certainly will. |

On December 10th I ordered a LifeStyle Solutions Marin Futon - Size: Full Finish: Beechwood from Futon Superstore D/B/A Mercantila, LLC. I received this order on December 26th; however, the wrong (6) slat supports were included with LifeStyle frame. The pre-drilled holes are 15" apart on the slat supports included, but the bolt holes are 16" apart on seat back and deck slats. Also only 8 pcs 40mm bolts were included, not 12 needed. Please send correct slats supports and additional 4 pcs 40mm bolts.
After 2 months, a dozen phone calls and as many emails this has not been resolved. Mercantila's customer service agents agreed to replace these parts several times; however, none have been sent. LifeStyle Solutions will not deal with me directly as Mercantila is their customer. Average wait times to Mercantila's customer service have been 20 minutes after which I have often been disconnected. Additionally, there is a language barrier in communicating with their customer service representatives. |

I bought a Friedrich air cleaner. It was damaged when it arrived. I called Mercantila. I said I wanted a new one before shipping back the damaged one and I didn't want two charges on my credit card. All was done as I asked and I have a new unit, sent in approximately one week. The new unit is perfect. I am sure the deliverer damaged the first one. I am completely satisfied with Mercantila and, for me, that is really saying alot!!!

Terrible service. I can't believe this store is operating after seeing the other reviews. I wish I had read the reviews before trying to order. After waiting over a month for them to clear a purchase order check from a school, one rep says they will ship as soon as possible, then a week after that I get a call telling me that this item has been discontinued indefinitely. The item still appears as in stock through online shopping services, but they claim they no longer have it in stock. Summed up after waiting 2 months, they tell me they no longer carry the item. Never again!

I wish I had read these reviews before I ordered from Mercantila.com. I ordered a zero gravity recliner and was sent confirmation that it would ship almost immediately......then I spent the next month trying to find out what was happening with my order when I never received the item. The ship date was constantly being extended until finally I received a phone call from them telling me that the merchandise was no longer available from the manufacturer. And it took them all month to figure that out? Now I'm just hoping that my refund will show up on my credit card bill.

I ordered a bar cart/wine cart from Mercantilia/Wine Rack Superstore. The price was the absolute lowest anywhere online -- with free shipping! -- and the ease, speed, and quality of the overall ordering experience was top-notch. Mercantilia followed up several times with emails to ensure I was happy with the purchase. The exact relationship between Mercantilia (middleman) and the retailers (source) is a little fuzzy, especially because you get emails from both once you place your order. Perhaps they could make this a little more transparent. Overall, I highly recommend Mercantilia and the Wine Rack Superstore.

I will never do business with this company again. They charged my credit card for the item ordered the day of my order. When my merchandise had not arrived, and NO word from Mercantila. I discovered they only update the original order status, instead of contacting the customer directly or sending out an updated e-mail. Bad customer service!! Placed order in mid Dec. Merchandise was not scheduled to ship until Feb 07!! But they made sure they had my money!!!

Seeing all of the negative comments about Mercantila's shipping times, I called their Customer Service number and spoke to a phone order rep before placing an order online. I was assured that the Schwinn 438 Elliptical was in stock, it would ship out that day, and I would receive it in 5-7 business days. I ordered it online and the next day, I received an e-mail with a link to an order tracking page on their site, but the estimated ship date was about two weeks from the day I ordered. I then called Customer Service for existing orders, which is obviously outsourced, and they told me that order date was correct and they are not sure why I was told that it would ship immediately. They had no information about it and, judging by the many poor reviews I've read here, I was sure it wouldn't even ship in the two week timeframe. The whole situation was a little shady, so I canceled. I'm almost positive that I will have to dispute the charge with my bank and fight Mercantila until they credit me. Good luck if you try to use this company. They're very deceptive.

Ordered a rowing machine on December 1, supposedly 'in stock' per their web site. My credit card was charged promptly, then the estimated ship date of Dec 8 mysteriously changed to Dec 25. Then I received an e-mail on Dec 28 confirming that my order was shipped ... and in the same e-mail a new estimated ship date of Jan 5 was given and 'canceled' was listed for the tracking number. E-mail inquiries were not answered; when I talked to Customer Service - apparently in India - on the phone, I got no meaningful answers. I finally cancelled my order on Jan 8 and disputed the credit card charges.
Maybe Customer Service is just totally inept or doesn't have the right tools on hand. But judging from the misinformation that I was given and the many other similar stories with Mercantila that are posted on the Web, it appears that there is method to the madness. |

This was the worst service I ever got. The customer service was horrible, the company had records that I had received my elliptical trainer when I hadn't gotten it, it was sitting in a truck somewhere for 2 weeks and the company had me calling everywhere to locate it. I will never do business with Mercantila or the Elliptical trainer superstore again.
