Worst Online Shopping Experience - Don't do it

I ordered an inversion table from Mercantila. I received an order confirmation through email so I thought everything was okay. Then after multiple weeks I realized there was no shipping status update, and when I tried to contact them through email and phone, I couldn't reach anybody. I even tried to cancel through the automated service, and it failed. In the end I disputed the charge through my credit card to get my money back. They need to revamp the customer service for this company.

Beware!!!
The prices are not worth the aggravation of dealing with this merchant. I placed 2 orders with them. The first order arrived quickly and in good condition. The second order arrived damaged in the box although the box was not damaged. Trying to get a living, breathing person to help me was to impossible. After numerous attempts I finally disputed the charge and received a credit for the damaged table. Save yourself the trouble and order from a merchant with a better rating. I wish I had! |

I suspect the few good reviews posted here are posted by Mercantila. Mercantila appears to be either a scam or a very poorly run company. I ordered a $1400 treadmill from the Treadmill Store. I never received the treadmill and could not contact anyone at Mercantila via email or telephone. Stay away from any of Mercantila web sites.

Mercantila.com claims its headquarters are at 665 chestnut street in San Francisco...this is a fraudulent address that doesn't even exist in County records...State of California cancelled their llc license in 2002. Unable to even track where the defective shipment originated, and unable to locate any person to resolve problem. San Francisco DA and Immigration and Customs Enforcement needs to be alerted in this post-911 era!!!

Steer Clear!!! Do not make the same mistake I did. I ordered a toy box on March 7 and was told it was backordered. I got a form-letter email that did not address my specific questions, and all of my telephone calls to customer service and supervisors went unanswered, as did my request for a refund. The voicemail even says, if I do not contact you back within 24 hours of this message please contact my supervisor at "x" extension, which led me to believe they cared about customer service. The supervisor did not call me back either! I am surprised anyone has had a good experience with them as they take your money and do not deliver the product, which just sounds like fraud to me. Like another post said, you end up having to make a claim with your credit card company to fight on your behalf. It has been 4 months and I am still fighting to get this resolved.

Do Not use Mercantila. Products are often out of stock and attempts to reach a live person are futile. They will charge your card fully knowing the item is not available and then refuse to refund. You will end up doing battle with your credit card issuer to get your money back.

I ordered a recumbent bicycle and floor protection mat from them a week ago. I had to call numerous times to get to Brandon. The phone tree always led to a lady who would transfer me to a phone which was never answered even for a voice-mail. So I called a salesman, and he somehow got me transferred to Brandon. Brandon promised the bicycle would ship last Thursday, and I would receive a tracking number. Haven't got it yet, and it is Saturday. I have left repeated messages. The last message this morning threatened them with disputing the charge if I did not receive some indication before the end of the day. If I had read these reviews, I would never have dealt with them.

I tried to purchase an "in-stock" pool cleaner. My account was charged. They still have my money, and I have no product. I called a number of times and their voice mail was full - no way to leave a message. I finally reached someone who told me my item was backordered (so much for the "in-stock - ships in 1-2 days" note on the website). I have tried to cancel the order, but they will not confirm cancellation. As far as I am concerned, they have defrauded me. I would like to see others who have ordered supposedly in-stock items not delivered join in a class-action against this seller. They should not be doing business on the web.

I ordered a rocking chair and heard nothing from Mercantila for two weeks after purchase. My credit card was charged the day I ordered the chair. I made several calls and was either disconnected, forwarded to a "manager's" voice mail, or promised a return call within 24 hours if I did find a real person to speak to. After three days of no information and no return calls, I canceled the order and made sure my credit card company will deal with removing the the purchase from my account. The last person I spoke to at Mercantila promised me an email verification of my cancelation within 10 minutes. I am still waiting. This is the worst experience I have had with an online purchase. I will never order anything associated with this website.

I purchased Twin platform drawer bed in this website. I cancelled in an hr. Customer service never responded to my cancel order request email or phone calls rather they shipped the order after 2 days.
after i saw the shipping email i called them up and finally they talked . They threatened me to put 2 way shipping charges if i refuse the order. WORST customer service! If you ever do get someone they'll transfer you to their manager who won't answer the phone. He'll give you his manager's phone number on his voice mail when you call. You'll call that number but he won't answer but you'll get his manager's number from his voice mail.... They don't return phone calls, they don't respond to email. They're obviously in India or Pakistan, the funny thing is that they all have names like Robbie, Jim, Mike, Brandon...
I order a recumbent bike from them in DECEMBER, it's now April and I still don't have all of the pieces for the bike. I want to return it but I can't get anyone on the phone. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from these crooks. |

The worst waited a week to tell me the item was no longer available of course the money had already been debited. Another week before I saw the credit to my account and there website still has the item for sale. Here is a copy of the email they sent me.

LOATHSOME customer service, the worst I've EVER experienced! Nick Anderson and Ken Marshall are HORRIBLE to deal with. They dishonor and disgrace ALL customer service reps and managers of the world by associating themselves with such titles! Their combined laziness and unprofessionalism of tracking my returned item, processing my credit, and returning my phone calls are appalling!
I've returned my item via Mercantila, which was received by the manufacturer weeks ago. I am still waiting for an accurate credit back to my account. Had I not checked my bank statement and brought it to Mercantila's attention, they would have TRIPLE charged me for the return shipping charge. Mercantila is DESPICABLE and I would never recommend even my worst enemy to purchase anything from them, no matter how discounted their prices are! |

Overall satisfaction, zero stars. Order accuracy, zero stars, customer service, zero stars. Cannot complain about delivery speed as some of the product was delivered within the specified time period. However, I have yet to receive everything I ordered, and Mercantila refuses to call me back. BUYER BEWARE!! Their prices may be okay, but definitely not worth the hassle.

I ordered a product in September, was billed and paid on 10/04/07. Did not receive my product in the three weeks as advertised. I Called and was told my product had to come from China and would ship 11/23/07. That date came and went. I called back after Christmas, and after getting sent from one person to another, was told the product was still out of stock. I cancelled the order and was told I would receive a full refund and it will be processed that day. Still haven't received the refund. No one will answer the phone, except the ordering department (typical). Ordering department will hang up on you or send you to a voice mail. I called Ken (manager) at 800-718-1710 X4710. He will not return my calls. Called the VP Tom 650-616-6532, you have to have a pass code to reach him. Sent emails. Filed a complaint with BBB today. Worst experience I have had with on-line shopping.
