I will never buy from Macys.com again.  They had an promotion going on: Place your order by the 19th and we GUARANTEE to get it there by Christmas, or we'll give you a gift certificate up to $100 to match the price of the item you bought.  I placed an order for two blankets, one King, one Full, on 12/09/08.  When I was putting the item in my 'cart', it said they were 'in stock'.  As soon as I purchased the item, it gave me an estimated ship date of 1/23/09.  I looked at their shipping policy and it said most items ship within in three days, so I though, ok, if they don't ship it by the 12th, I'll call and ask what's up with the ship date.  Well, the King blanket shipped on the 12th.  When I got the blanket on the 17th, the invoice said the other blanket was 'on order', whatever that means.  So I looked online at Macys.com for the blankets I bought again, there they both were, in the color and size I bought, 'in stock'.  I called Macys.com customer service and asked if they knew when the second blanket would ship.  The guy was very nice, but didn't have a clue what was going on.  He said, "hmm, it says they will ship on the 23rd of January, well, that's ridiculous."  I told him I already received the King blanket, which on his system, it didn't even say it had shipped yet.  Then he said, oh, well, it looks like they printed a shipping label (or something like that), so it should ship anytime now.  O.K.  So I look online the next day, and see that it had shipped, on the 18th.  Great!  I should get it by Christmas.  Christmas Eve comes and no package.  I call up Macys, asked when I was going to get my package.  They tell me it will be there on the 29th.  I said, ok, well, you had a guarantee saying that if it didn't get here by Christmas -- she cuts me off, "no, ma'am, that is only for in stock items.  This item was backordered."  Excuse me?  I say, well, I never received anything telling me it was backordered, and it said it was in stock online when I bought.  "Well, ma'am, the website isn't always up to date and sometimes things aren't in stock when it says they are."  I tell her, Well, that's not my problem, that's your problem.  In short, I was on the phone for an hour going back and forth, talking to her and her manager, and they just kept saying, it was backordered, the guarantee doesn't apply to backordered purchases.  An absolute SCAM!  Since their website "isn't always up to date", they could just say that about ANYTHING that didn't get their on time -- oh, it was backordered.  I don't think I've ever been so mad in my life.
