I got completely screwed by Macy's and there is nothing to do about it!

Here is what happened. I got an offer that said if I order 75 dollars worth online then I would get 10 dollars off. I decided to buy a watch that was 85. Well I went through everything and put the coupon code in that was on my account. It updated the price so I thought everything was ok. Then after I hit the button to submit the order the price was suddenly back to its original price and low and behold my coupon code was mysteriously gone. So not only did I have to pay full price, but any proof was gone. I emailed Macy's customer service multiple times and all they ever said was "we need to know the coupon code in order to take any action." How am I supposed to know the code if it is nowhere to be seen on my account? I just used it and it is gone..I should not have to write it down and keep careful track of it. That is absurd that a system error can cause me to lose out on money and they will do nothing to investigate it, even though I clearly described everything.
