Shopping at Macys.com is Simply an Average Experience.

Macys.com includes standard fare department store categories so it's convenient for one stop shopping. Need a new vacuum, a pair of pumps, tie for your hubby, jeans for your teens? While you're at it, throw in a bottle of Chanel no.5. I like the options

RIDICULOUSLY HORRIBLE

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE:
I ordered an item from MACYS.COM with a $50 gift card. The total cost of the item, with taxes/shipping, came to approx $60. So my intention was to put $50 on the Gift Card and the remaining $10 on my Credit Card...easy? To my surprise they put the entire $60 cost on my credit card. So I looked for an option at MACYS.COM to change/correct the form of payment.... or even cancel my order and start again... Well you would think in the 21st century that a simple problem like that could be fixed in a mouse stroke...think again: MACYS.COM DOESN'T ALLOW FOR "CANCELLATIONS" OR "FORM OF PAYMENT CHANGES" ONCE AN ORDER IS PLACED. So don't make any mistakes, or god forbid, change your mind. I then called customer service and talked to a manager, who reitirated MACYS.COM's arcane "NO CANCELLATION" policy, but said she would try to rectify the situation and change my form of payment. FOUR weeks later...bupkiss...$60 all on my Credit Card statement....Everytime I call the manager, she isn't there. I'm filing complaints with consumer protection and the state attorney general's office. |

This is the slowest, most frustrating shopping experience ever.

I needed a coffeemaker. I read reviews and chose a model. Macy's was having a one day sale with all the coffeemakers 40% off. I went into the store to make sure they stocked the one I wanted. I spoke to a clerk about it. I then went back on the day of the sale. I was told it was out of stock and had been for a long time. I could order it on Macy's.com. That was TWO WEEKS AGO AND IT WON'T BE HERE FOR ANOTHER WEEK! Why did they wait a week to ship it and then send it on the slowest route possible. This has been an extremely frustrating experience. I could buy a similar model at Target and have it today. After driving 30 miles out of my way twice and waiting what will be over three weeks this has been a terrible experience.

Horrible customer service, delivery and furniture experience - Be Aware of Macy's!

I ordered furniture from Macy's Furniture in Oakbrook, Illinois. We ordered a bedroom set, living room let and family room set all from Macy's. The bedroom furniture had to be touched up because it was slightly damaged. My coffee table has been exchanged 5 times so far. Macy's customer service area will tell you, if you experience this, that they will give the furniture a "presidential inspection" before it's delivered. Obviously, with 5 exchanges, this was a lie. The last time I received the coffee table, it did not even match the end table. Customer service is horrible. It's taken over 6 mths to resolve this issue, although I paid for the tables in full already. The Director of Delivery contacted me and I have yet to hear back from him on how this will be rectified, even though he said he'd return my call. I am EXTREMELY disatisfied with Macy's furniture. I would NEVER purchase anything from Macys again. I would NEVER recommend Macys furniture to anyone. They lie, are rude and will not resolve issues.

Reference for Mr. Eric John Los,
Macy's East 1685 Boston Rd., Springfield, MA On Dec. 19, we had a pleasure of meeting Mr. Eric John Los at the fragrances counter. We were immediately impressed by his knowledge and especially friendly attitude. After Christmas, while waiting in line to be served, we overheard a young women, whom he helped to pay with purchase not only in his department, saying: "I just love Eric!" Well, we are not young anymore, we both have passed 80 and have seen the world and...rarely encountered such a shining personality like Eric, that we asked for his business card to let you know - what a credit you have in Eric John Los! I purchased a Samsonite suitcase from Macys.com but I received a different suitcase. So far I have contacted customer service five times. The first three times I requested the wrong suitcase be picked up and the correct suitcase shipped. Each time I was told the suitcase would be picked up in 5 - 7 working days and then the correct suitcase would be shipped. This did not happen. The fourth and fifth time that I called I asked for a pickup and refund. The 4th time I was told to ship the suitcase via UPS for a refund and a $6.98 shipping refund would also be issued. I found out that the bag would cost over $45.00 to return. I then made a fifth call. This representative promised to email a prepaid shipping label. I have not received the label. I have been trying for almost two months to get what I ordered or a refund. I advise against ordering from Macys.com.

Today I saw in your circular that you would have a fit event now thru 8/28/07. I was so excited, because it usually is a do-it-yourself, trial and error job. I drove over 20 miles from Union County to Carolina Place at a time when it was not convenient because of family illness. I went to the foundation department and asked about a professional fitter. I was told that "I can be that person". RED FLAG went up with me. The lady (the only one in the foundation department) took me to the dressing room, measured me, and then we went to the sales floor. She looked for the size (which I knew when she measured me was incorrect) however, she never found one.
She spent a maximum of three minutes total with me (fitting and looking)and I never saw her again. The dept. was not extremely busy, but she never came back and asked to help. She told me to just look for myself. I could have done that at any store. This was my first experience with Macys and probably my last. Maybe I was expecting too much, but I really don't think so. HORRIBLE! Worst customer service ever. Ordered an item on line, didn't get a confirmation, and once I did the tracking number, it didn't work. 2 weeks later I get an email saying the item was returned. I called customer service and they said the item never shipped, it was discontinued? Huh? They sent me a tracking number. The customer service rep was rude and obviously just wanted to get off the phone. They told me they would put the money back on the gift card I used...which I had thrown away. So they they said, no, it will go on your credit card. I went into the store to see if they had the item and explained my situation with the gift card, and no credit appearing on my credit card. This customer service person was just as rude, and sent me to the men's department which was on the other side of the mall because that is where they had the item. Get there, ask someone where to find the item, she says, sarcastically, we don't carry that! Unbelievable...I will never shop Macy's again and will spread the word. Do not shop Macy's or Macys.com.

Do not order jewelery on Macys.com EVER. I am stiffed for a 171.00 charge because I was forced to return a necklace via their pre-printed UPS label which does NOT generate a tracking number, though they tell you to write down a number that is in fact just an order number for Macys system. I then put the package in a UPS box without knowing that I should have seen a live agent. It appears that the UPS driver or depot may have lost or stolen the necklace package. All the liability was Macy's and I was sent on a 5 month run around to find out that I have NO RECOURSE whatsoever. They claim to have easy returns--far from it- they have misleading and faulty information every step of the way. At one point they even told me I had a refund and to wait two billing cycles for it to appear on my card and they simply lied.
Goodbye $171.00 forever-- and about 7 man hours in finding out the bad news. So much for CONVENIENT SHOPPING. |

Macy's Wedding registry is a horrible experience

I went to the Macy's wedding registry (I thought) and ordered some fiesta ware for my niece which had a buy one get one free special. When I went to check out, it was not there, so I called the customer service number to make sure I would get the special, then i was told it was not available because now I was dealing with the Wedding Channel (how was I to know that?) so the special would not be honored. But wait, he could do it manually, but wait, the computers are slow, but wait, I cannot get expedited shipping, as I could have on the Macy's site, but wait, wasn't I on the Macy's site to begin with, but wait, we are partners but we are two separate companies, so you do not know who you are dealing with, each with their own policies, so wait, go to h### and cancel the order because this is fraud in my book. After over an hour, it was all for naught and I will never shop Macy's registry again.

I placed an order on April 10. I received a shipping confirmation on April 12 with no tracking number on it. I called the customer service on 18 to check on my order as I haven't received it by that time. I gave her my confirmation number and necessary information, and she told me that they have a 7-10 days shipping policy and asked me to wait for another few days. I called again today on 24 and the customer representative told me the item is discontinue and my order actually never get shipped at all! They send me a shipping confirmation because the system automatically generate it when an item is discontinue!!!I was extremely mad. Not only that, my credit card account has been charged and it will take another 7-10 business days for them to put the credit back to my account! This whole mess would only back to normal after about a month! I am furious!

A SCAM ON MACY'S PART

I ordered a "Calvin Klein luxury down comforter" in February when it was on sale w/ free shipping. It cost $299 on sale. When I got the delivery, I found that they delivered a "Mountainview comforter" instead of the Calvin Klein I ordered. This comforter only cost $59 on sale. How do they deliver something that's completely different from my order and charged me $299 for a $59 good????? It's a total scam.
The worse is, I'm currently located overseas. After I ordered it, I had it delivered to my friend in New York who then came to visit me in Asia (lugged it all the way). Now, I'm stuck w/ it here. How am I supposed to return it back to US?! It's a commercial fraud. I'm filing for a credit card dispute at the same time I am waiting to call Macy's customer service. It is a potential lawsuit for commercial misconduct. I think you all should act against Macy's for all the damages and misrepresentations. They should not be allowed to get away w/ it. |

I ordered a skirt last month that I never received. Sent numerous emails and made numerous phone calls still no credit. One of the calls they said it was no longer available so I would receive a credit.
This morning I talked to a supervisor 'can't make any promises as to when this will be resolved. I will send an email to the warehouse.' I asked to be copied on the email and she said she couldn't do that. I asked for a issue number or some reference number I could give if this still isn't resolved. She said she didn't have a number to give me. I order online all the time and NEVER had this type of horrible service. This is the first and last time I will order from macys.com |

I ordered 10 items on macys.com and I received an email 3 days later telling me that everything shipped. I received the items 4 days later and discovered that 2 items were missing. A card in the package said that they mistakenly charged my credit card for the 2 out of stock items and that they would refund it soon. Over two weeks later, still no credit for the two items and no information regarding their availability. I called their support line and the guy who answered was completely worthless. He had no answers and couldn't do anything. It took Macy's 2 minutes to charge my credit card and it'll probably take 2 months to get a refund. I'm never shopping at Macy's again.

Terrible experience with Macys.com
by gabyglm, December 13, 2006

They didn't do anything right. I ordered a pair of man's shoes and they sent me the wrong product (a pair of woman's boots). When I contacted them they said they would pick up the wrong product from my house and assured me the right item would arrive on time but a few days later they sent an email asking me to sent it through mail. I also realized that in their receipt (that came with the woman's boots) the color of the shoes was wrong. I ordered brown and it said black. An agent told me that in their computer it showed black, but in my confirmation order it said brown. What a big problem in their system.
Finally I returned the wrong item to the store and as they couldn't assure me that the right item would arrive on time I asked for a credit. I was surprised to see that they charged me twice in my credit card. When I called they said they did send the shoes a couple days ago, even though I said I didn't want it anymore. I wouldn't recommend anybody to buy at Macys.com. |
