MacMall has the most complete selection of merchandise of the large online computer stores, better than Mac Warehouse. Their service is efficient and, when I have spoken to representives on the phone, they are well-informed and intelligent (and in the United States-- very important to me!). The only negative is that they are in California, and my orders are subject to sales tax.

After finally finding the product everything was rated an "Excellent".
But finding the correct RAM DIMM on their site was rediculouly confusing and I rate it a big "Avoid It". I'm a computer consultants with 17 years experience so lack of knowledge was not an issue here. There is no easy way to match the proper DIMM or SIMM to a particular computer model. Using the Manufactuer's lookup tools were also useless. Kingston's lookup tool said the product didn't even exist!
To make a long story short, I ended up using a MacMall catalog I had recevied in the mail to find the correct DIMM and Part # and then went back to the web site and placed the order that way. In the catalog they list the Mac models along with the various modules and Part #'s that go with it. Why this simple and easy to understand concept is not applied to the web site is beyond me. Someone needs to seriously rethink this particular area as its current design is simply pathetic and I won't use it again. There are many other sites that have their act together in this particular area.

Yesterday, saw the product advertised at Mac Mall. Contacted them to say I thought it was inappropriate to advertise what they couldn't ship. No response as of now. I have also missed out on a shipping rebate on account of this delay

When I checked again to see why it was not shipping, it says that it is back ordered! Now I have to look somewhere else and meanwhile, I wasted a lot of time for nothing. They try to get as many orders as they can and they do not care how they do it, it seems. This is not the first time they do this . |

MacMall and PCMall have been around since Al Gore invented the internet and e-commerce was created. There is something comforting knowing that they have been able to withstand the test of time. We place several orders each month with them and while they might not be perfect they always deliver and provide a very good value. The customer service department is always helpful and will call in technical help when it is needed. Based upon other e-commerce experiences I rate them very highly.

Horrendous experience but good selection, prices, and extra freebies including rebates.
Would I do it again? I don't think so. Three days before Christmas I ordered a new G4 Ibook. With it I got a freebie printer, carrying case, DVD Pirates of the Caribbean, and Total OS Training Cd. Great. I was told the Airbase Extreme Station and Extreme Card was on back order. I wouldn't be getting any of the order by Christmas. Okay, I said, not a problem. One day later I had everything in my living plus two airbase stations not one. I called to have the other returned to them. Then I waited for Fed Ex to arrive. They didn't. MacMall swore they'd ordered the pickup. They didn't. Five separate pickup days later; five or six sales reps and two supervisors later; FedEx finally got the order. Great! After all, I only lost 5 days waiting around the house for the pickup. However, Fed Ex returned the package to MacMall and MacMall told Fed Ex they weren't expecting any return package. The package was on it's way back to me. Unbelievable. If you're considering MacMall, don't even think about it! |

I ordered a G5 from MacMall because a friend of mine who buys many things from them recommended them. Received my product in a timely manner and in good condition. The rep told me he would split the order because the computer would take time to have the memory installed. I received both the same day.
However, I was not aware of their return (or lack of) policy. I hope I have no problems with it. I'm giving a decent rating based on my experience, however I'd hesitate to recommend based on what I've read. |
