Poor communication

In order to get engraving on multiple ipods, you need to place separate orders at MacMall. This can create credit card billings with the same amount. I was sent two differently worded emails, not from MacMall directly but from pcmall, that looked like phishing attempts. After several days, my emailed questions directly to MacMall about these emails were finally returned. They required phone calls to confirm orders. After several days runaround, I was not interested in dealing with them and canceled the orders.

- Clear website
- Bad order fulfillment
- Strange email communication
- Slow follow up

Rebate is a Scam

Don’t fall for the $100 rebate! It’s a scam! They sent me a form letter stating their records show that I don’t qualify for the rebate. They don’t say WHY, just that I don’t qualify. I guess that when you purchase a laptop from them, send them a copy of the receipt they sent you, and fill out the paperwork, you still don’t “qualify”
Why else would they offer a rebate then a direct $100 discount? Think about it. What cost their company more; to deal with the paperwork or to give out the discount directly.

Never ever again

Hi all,

This is the first time that I wanted write a review for a website because I had a terrible experience on it and I want everbody to be informed.

I ordered a cell phone battery on Macmall's website. However I received a cell phone carrying case. I called the customer service and waited for more than 15 min. They told me that I had to send it back by Fedex and reorder. I went to Fedex with the return form they sent me and the office that I went said that they were unable to send a return package, that I had to go to anoter Fedex office whixh was ten miles away. I went there and sent the item back. After a week Macmall refund me but they did not cover the delivery charge which cost me $6.

Finally, I have to say that, this is a very low class website which gives you a good impression at first. I wasted too much time and money on it.

Getting your rebate is a nightmare!

I very thoroughly researched the MacBook Pro I wanted, and began the hunt to find the best price on it.  MacMall had the lowest price (because it didn't charge me sales tax), so I went with them.  However, I had to be very careful, because they are totally unclear in the product listing if I was getting the latest release or the older one!

Before ordering, however, I wish that I had red the customer reviews FIRST.  It has been a total waste of time trying to get the DEAL I expected.  3 of the 5 rebate forms would not download, which amounts to $140, assuming I even get the other two in the mail... I'll be waiting a while for them.

To add insult to injury, their customer service AND technical support phone number disconnect you EVERY TIME you go through the menu.  No telling how long I must wait to get an email back from them.

I would NOT recommend MacMall to anyone!  I don't think they are honest.  Just purchase your Mac directly from Apple.  Save yourself the hassle, I BEG you!

MacMall tries to avoid paying rebates until confronted

MacMall tries to avoid paying rebates. Last year the rebates didn't arrive [they are promised in 2 to 6 weeks]and it took several calls till they were paid nearly 3 months late. I complained and they promised that things had changed and to give them another try. I did and bought a MacBook this year. They rejected the rebates as arriving 1 day late [postmarked 3/24 21days from the shipping date they claimed was 3/3]. I showed them an email from them to me on 3/3 stating they couldn't ship the order till I called them to verity some irregularity, which I did on 3/4. So the order was shipped on 3/4 at the earliest. Caught in their lie, they agreed to the rebates which will now take 7 to 14 additional days. But they wouldn't agree till I threatened to report them to the Better Business Bureau. I will not shop there again. Avoid this place.

Horrible experiences with this company. As a new customer I validated my credit card online with Visa, as my bank requires. This company billed my card and refused to ship the order until they "obtained additional information" because I was a new customer. They asked for my previous billing address information and a number to call my bank to verify my identity. This sounded fishy to me and I told them it was not going to happen. I further explained that they verified my shipping address with Visa when they put the order thru. After explaining this to a supervisor, she assured me that the order would be sent out today and they would call my bank with the info they already had. My bank refused to give any information, just as they are supposed to. MacMall called me twice attempting to do a conference with my bank. Each time the rep lost my bank and then expected me to call them and conference in MacMall. This whole thing sounds like an attempt to steal confidential information or worse, commit fraud. I immediately called and cancelled my order, as they had no plans to ship or complete it.

Bad news, stay away.

I have been buying from MacMall for at least 10 years now.

At first many years ago they were great, the people on the phone were sharp and clear. Customer Service too was outstanding.

Well thanks to outsourcing and dumbing down the workforce, now you get someone in the Phillipenes who can barely speak English, doesn't know what they are talking about, and if you need to call them back it's usually between the hours of 7pm and 3am Pacific time - or leave a message and nobody will call you back.

Now we are left with a bunch of idiots who read descriptions on a screen and sound as dumb as they are, ask for a supervisor and you will be told that they are on the phone and not available.

Returns and rebates follow suite.

The long and short is go somewhere else and you can do just as well, because you couldn't do any worse!

Try NewEgg, not perfect but better.

MacMall has the worst customer service of any company I've ever dealt with. Don't buy from MacMall. It's not worth it. I have spent over 2.5 hours on hold with them.

Avoid MacMall/OnSale at all cost!! My husband ordered an
engraved Ipod Touch for me and it arrived with botched
text, including text ground into the plastic corner!
3 days on the phone to "account executives" has yielded

I spent close to $10,000. Got the products, thankfully they all worked. However Customer service sucked, long waits on the phone and had to jump through rebate hell. Promised rebate 3 months later no rebates. My phone now read 10 min. of waiting. I call at least once a month, trying to get this cleared. Terrible experience. Never again.

Sent Wrong Item

Everything went well until I received the order. I ordered a Vizio 37" LCD TV model ...

VX37L10AR (R being for Refurbished I imagine)

I received the...

VX37L - an older model with 25% slower response time and older technology.

So, now I am forced to swallow their error or be troubled by the inconvenience\cost of their return policy. It is like going to McDonalds and ordering a double cheeseburger and receiving a single cheeseburger.

Delivery speed doesn't exist. When I ordered my MacBook Pro they told me it would ship in 7 to 10 days, since it was backordered.. After two weeks I called and they said it would ship in another week, it was still backordered.. After 8 days I called and they said it would ship in another week. Eight days later I called and got the same line--it will ship in a week since it was still backordered. I then got a letter from them stating that it was backordered and they had no idea when it would ship. So, the "it will ship in one week" line was an outright lie. Sorry, I don't do business with liars. Cancel order.

My MacBook Pro arrived and worked for 15 minutes before dying. After going to an Apple store nearby they said they could schedule a repair but recommended going back to MacMall.

MacMall stated that the machine would have to be shipped back to them for review and possible repair in their warehouse. I am waiting for their response.

I paid top dollar for a NEW computer but am now getting a repaired computer. Apple stated if I bought it from them, they would have replaced the computer.

Pay the tax, buy it from Apple.

Does this amount to fraudulent advertising? Each of the last three issues of MacWorld has a full page MacMall ad with mail in rebates. The June MacWorld issue's MacMall mail-in expiration date is 5/6/07, the May issue's is 4/15/07 and the March's issue is 2/28/07. Had to use a magnifying glass to read the fine print in the MacMall ads. What a SCAM!!! Not surprising there are so many unhappy customers represented here.

Great site for all things Mac.

Not only do they have great service, but its hard to beat their pricing (after rebates) on anything Mac related.

I used them to get a G4 for my wife and again to get a MacBook Pro for myself.

I will certainly continue to use them in the future.

Item ordered 5/17/07 had not been shipped by 5/18/07; I had to phone them to prod shipment. They promised it shipped that day, but did not ship until 5/21/07, though they lied in the interim and even afterward, INSISTED it had shipped on the 18th. REFUSED to cancel the order or refund my credit. God knows what country their customer service is in; huge delay in phone transmission, and when I could hear them, they were often unintelligible. I will never believe a word they say.

I purchased a high end Macbook Pro from Macmall and it has been a nightmare from beginning to end. The computer arrived without any packing material in the box, and the box was damaged. They have all these rebates for shipping, software and cases, etc. included, which add up to $10 - $150, but good luck actually getting the rebates. It took me 1 whole hour to complete the forms, clip UPC's and photocopy and address the envelopes. I then have spent a total of 4 plus hours trying to get them to send out the rebates. Customer service is in India, and they did not understand what I was saying, and must have an internet phone, as the connection at all times was horrible. I have had to call back many times, am told to wait 15 days, or whatever amount, wait, and nothing arrives.
Go to Macconnection. They deduct the rebates from the purchase price, are very trustworthy, and always have good after purchase support. Don't buy from Macmall! It's not worth the time and aggravation!

I ordered a Macbook for my son for college. One of the reasons I chose to order through Macmall was it's nice $75 rebate. (Every little bit off helps!) Several weeks went by and no rebate check. After being advised to wait the entire 8 weeks for my rebate check to arrive, I inquired on it's whereabouts. Macmall claims to have NEVER received my rebate form! And they proceed to tell me that because it is a "time sensitive" rebate (i.e. expired!), resubmitting a copy of the original sent rebate form would do no good - they would not pay. Ok, I know things can get lost in the mail, but is it my fault?! I was VERY DISAPPOINTED in their lack of effort to work with me. I will do NO future business with this online store.

I am deeply disappointed by my MacMall experience.

I've ordered a MacBook, and received the one with less GBs, but still charged at the higher price. So i try to return it and after weeks of struggling with them -- i still end up having to pay for the shipping of two machines, the price of a macbook, and then the 15% 're-stocking' fee.

do not use MacMall and with complaints, it all falls to deaf and apathetic ears, because the customer reps only care about their commission.

I buy a LOT online, and Macmall is by far the WORST I have ever come across.

1. Deceptive website - shows one product, sells you a different one

2. Free, which means send in a rebate, is hidden.

3. Their rebates have rediculous requirements and are a pain to fill out.

4. Wrong product sent

5. Customer support almost impossible to get on the phone, and then definitely impossible to get any useful responses from them

6. Emails never replied to (4 sent)

NEVER again. Stay away.

I ordered 2 iPods as Christmas presents. I could have bought from many different places, but decided to order through MacMall when I saw the following:

"Plus,

Free Engraving! (for select models only)

Free FM Transmitter!*

Free Belkin KickStand Leather Case!*"

As expected, "free" meant "after rebate". NOT EXPECTED was that there is a limit of 1 rebate per person per billing address. So, I spent $70 for "free" items as advertised. At best, I'll only receive a rebate for $20.

I FEEL INTENTIONALLY MISLEAD AND TRICKED ME OUT OF $50 THROUGH DISHONEST MARKETING AND INCOMPLETE DISCLOSURE OF RESTRICTIONS AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE.

There are plenty of places to find the same merchandise at comparable prices. SHOP SOMEWHERE ELSE, and save yourself the headache of dealing with this unethical business.

Crooks! Forget receiving a rebate!

In February we had purchased four 17" LCD X2Gen monitors from MacMall(aka PC Mall). After completing the exhausting rebate sequence all four ($100 each) rebates were denied because we had failed to circle a certain word on the form. X2Gen released 1 rebate after numerous phone calls and emails to X2Gen and MacMall (aka PC Mall).

The picture was initially as good as any LCD monitor we had in the office....until October. Two of the four went bad, different problems. One we think the back light went bad, on another, a vertical one inch ribbon of pixels had turned to gibberish.

These monitors clearly have defects but the company is making it difficult to resolve this issue. Will have to get Visa involved to resolve this.

Also the bolt pattern on the back is irregular--you can't hang this monitor on the wall!
