I would check to see where all components are made and what they are made of . As I stated in the first survey, the cut glass was made in Italy and beautiful. The mounting piece was made in China, plastic (not brass as expected) and cheap looking and made. There were also no directions and the threaded rod was too short no matter which way was attempted. Luckily, we had one on hand that fit. My husband built and did all the plumbing and wiring in our addition and the man on the telephone spoke as if he (husband) knew nothing. Item also not returnable. I would have returned it because of the plastic brass.

I placed my order on-line for two patio furniture covers. When I had not received a confirmation of my order by the next day, I called the company. At that time I was told one of the items was back ordered and not expected in for 7-10 days. I attempted to cancel the order but was told I would not receive a cancellation confirmation for 1-2 days. When the confiramtion came through I was told one of the items had already been shipped and it could not be canceled. In the meantime I had found the same products for less on Amazon and had ordered them. Now I have two of the same item. To return the item to this company would have involved having to pay for shipping to me and back to the company plus a restocking fee, which was not worth it. In addition, my charge account was charged for both items and I did not receive the credit for the back ordered item for over a week.

I checked with our local lighting shop who will give us "contractors pricing". Lighting Universe beat that price by more than $30 per fixture and shipping was free. I'll definitely shop with Lighting Universe again. Our fixtures arrived in 13 days from the day I ordered them and in perfect condition.

Generally this is a fabulous place to shop as it has excellent prices, but don't order anything you're not certain you will like. The shopper should always double check their order form as well as the receipt emailed back from the company. If you or your computer makes an error you may be stuck paying for incorrect merchandise. Be aware that the return policy for every item is different, it is never flexible, and some things are not returnable at all.

Very dissatisfied. These guys are crooks. If you want to utilize the company's price matching guarantee, forget about it. They won't ever respond back to you to agree to match those items that are priced lower elsewhere. It is simply an unethical strategy to make you think they have price matching. We're now going to court...
Also beware-- any promises they make about something being in stock and ready to ship are false. However, you won't find this out until the end, so don't order if you need the item in any given time period. The Better Business Bureau told me this company has had many complaints, but as long as the company 'responds' to the complaint, they can keep a decent rating. |

I only bought this shade here because it was discontinued at Target where I had bought several others. I think that you are selling it for about 10-15 dollars more than you should. It arrived about five days later than I thought it would. The box was poorly padded and dented during the process. If I had not been desparate to find another one of these shades, I would not have purchased it from you.

It seems that my experience with Lighting Universe was not unique! We ordered from them, received fixtures rapidly. However, the description on the web site did not match the actual size of the fixtures. We contacted customer service and got the whole RMA to RGA run around where they place all the responsibility for processing the return on their provider (the manufacturer) and on the customer. ATG is off fondling your money while you have to continually contact customer service to get progress out of the refund process. Our return was initiated in September of 2008. And we are still waiting (12/18/2008).
Save yourself the greif of having to write up a bad review from a bad experience. Avoid LightingUniverse and Allied Trade Group related web companies. All of our other lighting purchases online were professional and easy to work with. Let the buyer beware! |

They don't mention the 15% restocking fee plus the fact that they are simply an order taker and biller with the merchandise being shipped directly to (and for returns, back to) the vendor.
Customer service was OK. Just PO'd about restocking fee and having to ship one order back to two vendors. UPDATE: Getting a refund has been hellish. They take forever, and then the amount is much less than it is supposed to be. I am on the verge of filing a complaint with our Attorney General's office. Yes, it has gotten that bad. |

This has to be the worst e-commerce vendor I have ever dealt with. ATG, the parent company just sets up on-line drop ship web stores for the manufacturers and have done so across many types of stores/products. As far as my individual experience, not once, but twice, they shipped the wrong products. Ordered post lights, got lights not for posts. Twice! Sent the products back twice. Now after a month after returning everything via UPS, I am still awaiting credit. Called them today and they said they haven't seen the credit from the manufacturer. Was a huge argument and plenty of phone time to get them to waive the restocking fee. I could not recommend strong enough not buy stuff from here. Who knows if I'll ever see the credit.

Horrible experience with cheap lamps and incompetent and unhelpful customer service. Tried to return unwanted stuff. They would not waive the restocking fee even tho the lamps did not swing as expected.Never got anyone on the line without a 15 minute wait. I kept calling to get the address to return it to after getting an RMA number. They said it could take up to 14 business days to get the correct address for the lamp company.I waited 7 business days and then started emailing and calling. In the meantime, I get e mails saying we haven't received your merchandise. If we don't get it by the end of the month we'll assume you want to keep it!! Finally, I had a fit on the phone and a customer service rep finally gave me Lighting Universe's address rather than the lamp company. Clearly their goal was to make it almost impossible for the items to be returned.It still remains to be seen whether my credit card is appropriately credited. I shop frequently on line and have never encountered anything like this KEEP AWAY!!

TERRIBLE RETURN POLICY AND WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!
I am still waiting for a refund for a product they received over TWO MONTHS AGO. No one, not even a supervisor, can tell me why I have not received my credit back yet. Basically you lose out on shipping fees as well as 20% re-stocking fees. I lost nearly $50 on a $200 order. What a waste. This is ridiculous, considering that most online companies do not charge re-stocking fees anymore. I will never shop there again. I should have searched for reviews before I purchased from them, but they were the only company who had the fixture I thought I wanted. |
