Online clothing sites are often tailor- made for one gender, but there are a few sites that combine clothing for the entire family into a single shopping site. One such site is LandsEnd.com, a retailer for clothes and more.

LandsEnd.com is an online retailer that sells products with the Lands End label as well as products from other manufacturers. This online store offers a good selection of clothing and shoes for the entire family as well as a few non- clothing items like towels, bathroom accessories, bedding, and more. Most everyone is familiar with the Lands End brand and a good percentage of men and women have at least one article of Lands End clothing somewhere in their home. We have several items from Lands End and many of them are still holding up after several years.  

I first became familiar with the Lands End brand many years ago when I would receive their catalogs in the mail. I still get the catalogs but more often than not, my purchases are now made via the internet. LandsEnd.com has taken the place of the Lands End catalog and it rates as a good place to buy clothing online. I generally do not like to purchase clothing on the internet but LandsEnd.com was a no- risk place to shop online when I recently paid a re- visit to this site. The reason it was a no- brainer is because the articles purchased were on behalf of my place of employment. With nothing to risk, I gladly selected a few monogrammed shirts and placed the order.

One thing I noticed as I browsed the pages of LandsEnd.com is that this web site offers a nice selection of clothing. In the men's section, for example, LandsEnd.com offers almost 200 shirts and about 110 pants. The women's section is even better and there is a large range of sizes in all clothing departments (not all sizes are offered for all articles of clothing, so you may end up disappointed). This is enough that most everyone who shops here should be able to find something they like. I also noticed that the pages at LandsEnd.com load very quickly. In no time at all, you can click from page to page, fill your shopping cart, and place your online order.

Many clothing items will let you add a gift box and/or add a monogram to your selection. The monogramming option is the main reason why we continue to use LandsEnd.com where I work. Shirts and other items can have a simple lettered monogram or a company logo added. A company logo will, of course, require extra time and a possible call or online chat with a LandsEnd.com sales rep. Single letters, initials, or words can be added more easily and LandsEnd.com allows customers to select different locations for the monogram as well as block or script lettering.

LandsEnd.com offers a handy search function and the site is intuitive and easy to follow. I like that the items show you the available colors for each article of clothing in your search- before you select a specific item. Right away, I can see what is available and what is not, and this saves valuable time. I also like the different sort options (recommended, price low to high, high to low, or newest). There is a very good chance you will want to change the sorting- LandsEnd.com defaults the sort method to "Recommended" and, not surprisingly, the items recommended tend to rank toward the opper end of the price scale.

Checking out at LandsEnd.com is efficient and requires a name, address for shipment, and credit card information. LandsEnd.com will also let you add special delivery instructions during the check- out process, as well as a special message if your purchase is a gift. Once you are at the end of the process, don't be surprised if you feel a little disappointed with the bottom- line total. Shipping charges are added to all orders and this is certainly one strike against using LandsEnd.com. I don't like to pay for shipping if I can avoid it and LandsEnd.com does not offer a free- shipping offer on a regular basis. There are occasional specials, but the standard options all include shipping.

Overall, I find LandsEnd.com a very nice place to shop for clothing with an intuitive web site design, good selection, and Lands End quality. I would prefer not to pay for shipping, but the overall LandsEnd.com experience is positive enough that I can overlook this one flaw- especially if my company is footing the bill.
