Some of you might think this is crazy, but I bought my soon to be Kindergarten-er an L.L. Bean backpack. Sure, it was $25, but to me, Id rather get one of high quality and have it last, rather than buy a cheap-o and have to replace it every year. The less than $10 one I bought her for Pre-K is down right raggedy now. I figure well get a good 3 years out of this L.L. Bean backpack I bought.
So, since my home state of Tennessee decided to have a tax-free weekend on school supplies, I decided to go online at www.llbean.com and purchase the backpack, since there would be no tax applied to it.
As soon as you log on to the site, you will see categories along the left hand side that you can click on:
Mens
Womens
Kids
Footwear
Outdoor gear & apparel
Luggage & travel
Home and outdoor living
Gift cards
L.L. Bean sells high quality clothes for men, women and kids. Also, they have backpacks of various sizes, shoes, dog beds, and lots of other stuff. Usually around Christmas they have other fun items too, such as the indoor/outdoor thermometer/weather forecaster I bought my husband several years ago.
So, since I was shopping for a backpack, I clicked on luggage & travel, and then I was taken to another page of clickable categories, such as toiletry bags, luggage & totes, briefcases, and book packs. Under these main categories, there are subcategories that are also clickable. Since I was not sure which backpack I was looking for, I clicked on the book pack guide under the book pack category.
Then, the next webpage showed all the different types of backpacks available, youth, teen, campus, and after school and around town. I clicked on the youth category, and then I was given the choices of rolling backpack, starter backpack (from ages 4 to7), youth backpacks (for ages 7+), and lunch boxes.
Well, since my daughters school does not allow rolling backpacks, I compared the starter backpack (at $19), and the youth backpack (at $25). The only difference in these two is the size. I decided to go on and get the youth backpack since it was about the same size as the backpack we have now.
So, as far as the item description, and photos, they were great- there were 6 different color choices for the youth backpack, and I could click on each color and see what the whole backpack looked like, not just the color swatch.
Everything was well represented on the site. I found that the site was easy to navigate, and not too terribly complicated to maneuver.
So, once I got the pink backpack in my cart, I had to choice to add monogramming for an extra $5, which I decided to do. There were 13 different styles to choose from, and sports figures were available too, but I opted out for that.
So, after getting my selection in the cart and ready to checkout, I entered all my necessary info, and clicked on place order.
As far as shipping costs, it depends on the destination and the value of your order. My order was $5.95 in shipping costs.
After placing my order, I got a confirmation email letting me know they got my order. Four days after placing my order, I got an email letting me know it had been shipped. You can go to the L.L. Bean site and track your package by typing in the order number, last name, and zip code. My order was shipped via Fed Ex. It took a couple of days for it to make it to me.
When I got my backpack (er.. my daughters backpack), everything was correct as far as color and monogram. So, I am very satisfied with my shopping experience there, and would recommend you try them out if you have not already- they have good quality merchandise, and it does not take long for them to ship it to you.
