My family has been a customer of the L.L. Bean company for many years.

If I had to make a comparison, they are the more classic version of Eddie Bauer - and also the more time tested and reliable of the two.

L.L. Bean is a wonderful company. Their primary market is clothing, but they also sell a few home decor items as well as bedding and seasonal goods. Their theme has a most "outdoorsy" feel.

Several of their staple items, such as flannel lined jeans are the same season after season and are therefore a reliable buy. I have never received a "what have they done!" surprise from Bean's yet. My brother buys new "Bean Jeans" every fall for the outdoor winter work season and these warm comfortable pants have never let him down. He tried other brands a couple of times and was so disappointed that he went back to the Bean flannel jeans and refuses to try any others. The fit is always the same, the quality is always the same and that is really something to say in today's market.

The rest of Bean's clothing are modernized classics. Here you will find a taste of current style that you won't be humiliated to wear next season because even though the colors or lines are fresh, the styling is still classic.

Our experience with Beans does not stop there. We have purchased giant gym bags - the type used to haul hockey gear. After about 10 years of hauling armor (yes, I said armor. The knight in shining armor type, we belong to an educational group) the bag is still like brand new. It came with the added perk of being able to add initials. It's a nice touch. They still carry them and they come in a huge variety of colors and sizes.

I have purchased seasonal items from L.L. Bean, such as a little snowglobe at Christmas and was completely happy with both the globe and the price.

L.L. Bean products are quality, well made products and their customer service representatives are very helpful.

Returns are prompt and easy.

Packaging is very well done and arrives on time.
