Ok, let’s just get this out in the open: I’m very large. Clinically speaking, I’m considered super morbidly obese. Finding clothes is difficult. So even though I’m a woman, I often purchase from this men’s apparel website.

What have I bought?

Well, between stuff for both my hubby and I, I have gotten t-shirts, underwear, denim shirts, NFL apparel, and jackets. Most of the time, I buy for me. Hubby is a 2x but frequently finds that most of the items from KingSize Direct are too big or long for him. Some things work better than others though. For example, pants tend to be too long for him (he’s 6ft) but with short legs. The shirts typically fit fairly well.

As for me, I LOVE the black, long sleeved denim shirt I bought a few years ago. I got it in a 10x and it is VERY ROOMY. I wear it more like a light jacket. The material is medium weight and has developed a wonderful softness. It has held up beautifully too. I usually wear it over a tee while gardening or layer it while attending Steelers football games. It’s my most favorite item I’ve ever ordered from KingSize.

I can’t complain about anything that I have purchased from them. Everything appears to be of decent quality. No, these aren’t brand name or designer digs but they aren’t cheap crap either. KingSize Direct does offer a few brand names such as Jockey, Levi’s, and New Balance but I typically buy their own label. They also carry licensed sports articles.

Navigating the website is simple. There are five main tabs on the top of the webpage: New Arrivals, Clothing, Shoes & Accessories, Underwear & Sleepwear, and Clearance. On the left they have more tabs. The Clothing one is farther broken down into a dozen or so sub-categories of different clothing articles. The others are featured items and a quality guide.

Finding an item is easy. You can also use the two search boxes located at the upper right of each page to find desired items. The first box is to look by description and the second is to search using a catalog number. I rarely use these options. Say I wanted to buy a Yankees jersey. (Ok, maybe they’re still scraping the barrel of their division but I still like ‘em.) I looked under Clothing – then Licensed Sports Apparel—then Tops and I found it. There are two tabs to choose from BIG or TALL. I chose the former. Click on the arrow marked “First, Select Color”, pick Yankees. Then click on the second one “Then Select Size”. Sizes and prices are displayed in a drop down menu. Next, hit the arrow for the quantity and finish by clicking the “Add to Shopping Cart” button. That’s it!

Green letters in a box will appear confirming your purchase. A wee blue rectangle with a shopping cart graphic is located at the top right of each page to keep a running tab of your purchase. If the item isn’t available then a pop-up will appear stating if it is on back order or in other sizes or colors. You have the option to keep the backordered item or delete it from your cart.

The shopping cart page lists the items, availability, price, quantity, and total. There’s a section to enter promotional and deferred billing codes. No code? They usually display some offer on the homepage. You can also look in the catalog (if you have one), or try another site such as naughtycodes.com to check for any available promos. Also, if you’re a repeat customer a pop up ad often appears upon entering the site offering select promotions once you log in. There’s a box on the page that displays the merchandise, shipping, and tax subtotals too. The remainder of the checking out process is similar to other online stores. You need to enter your contact info and credit card on the secure page.


Now here are two things to keep in the back of your mind when shopping from KingSize Direct:

1. Go through Ebates, Upromise, or another money saving site. They currently offer 3% back.

2. Usually KingSize gives an opportunity before final checkout to buy certain items at 20% off. Check this out – you never know what they’ll have.


Shipping is ok. It’s not the fastest but it is ok. They clearly identify how long it can take when you order. Plus you’ll receive email confirmation. Additional information on shipping charges, returns, and so forth is provided on the website. I’ve never needed to speak to customer service or to return anything but their policy states:

“Your Satisfaction is Guaranteed. If, for any reason, you're not satisfied with your purchase, simply return it within 90 days of receipt for an exchange, or refund of the purchase amount, less the shipping & handling charges. After 90 days, we'll be happy to send a merchandise credit to you for the purchase amount, less the shipping & handling charges.”

So, that’s about it. If you’re shopping for big and tall sizes, give KingSize Direct a try. With Tall sizes up to 7x and some of the Big items to 10x, you might be able to find generous fitting apparel. Some of the men’s shoes go to size 16, 5E. What they have might surprise you. And their prices aren’t too bad. I love acquiring great finds through the CLEARANCE section.

So, even though I’m a lady, I’ll be buying from KingSize Direct again. Interestingly, they’ve recently added a brief selection of Women’s licensed apparel. Most items go to a 4XL (34-36).
