I've got to talk about my husband's underpants.
He's a big guy, and despite the fact that I've dangled the cute little purple briefs in front of him with a wicked grin, he just loves to don his white briefs. When he runs out, I'm off to Kingsizedirect.com to order more.
But not anymore. A recent order of 5 packs arrived as 2 packs--billed as 5 packs. A quick call to customer service left me frustrated but willing to accept their terms. They would charge me for 3 more packs and ship them--and customer service would then credit me for the 3 missing packs. Not exactly customer friendly policy, especially for someone who has been purchasing from them for 10+ years, but I dealt with it.
Until today--when I got a shipment confirmation that showed I was charged again for shipping charges! They weren't removed from the first order--and it was their mistake. Why was I supposed to pay for that?
I fired off an email, asking that the second shipping charge be removed--and to my shock, received a message that the extra charge was indeed correct as I had ordered the new briefs and therefore had to pay.
Um, hello? They goofed, I had to pay twice? I don't think so. It was, unfortunately, a final straw for me with this merchant, which has been inconsistent through the years. Sometimes orders arrive in 2 days--and sometimes in 2 weeks. More than once, items have been sent in the wrong size--meaning I've had to pay to ship them back.
Not to mention their selection of professional clothing for very large men is limited to dress shirts--they do not stock pants in his size, or suits. Sloppy casual clothing is available--but that doesn't work for most professionals.
King Size offers a full range of clothing for both big and tall men, with sizes typically ranging from XL to 6, 7, or 8x depending on the style. Shoes are available, including some name brands, with styles ranging from pimp wannabe grandpa velcro-walkers. Prices range from cheap for the clearance styles that no one seems to want, to expensive for better quality clothing.
Ordering on their website can be frustrating. The shopping cart often empties in mid-order, leaving me to rebuild virtual stacks of clothing again and again.
When checking out, the site opens a pop-up window offering special prices on other items--but they've never been available in his size. That same concept hits again when orders are called in to customer service. In fact, when I called about the missing briefs, the phone rep pushed matching tee shirts at me 3 times. Bad move.
Items are shipped in plastic bags by UPS, unless express shipping is chosen.
Bottom line--King Size lost me as a customer today. If you can find another big man's merchant, avoid this customer-unfriendly company. I'll find his tightie whities elsewhere--even if I have to sew them myself.
