Other than the lack of post-sale communication, our experience with KaTom was satisfactory. The products were what we were looking for and were very good quality.
In regard to post-sale communication. KaTom was very slow to respond and when they did, were not able to provide shipment tracking. Our order was delayed and one item was on backorder, but rather than just telling us that and keeping us posted on the order progress and status, we had to contact KaTom several times to drag that information from them. The customer should not have to do the follow-through on status.

No sign when I ordered that items were not in stock, but after my order I was told there would be a delay. A month later, my items were shipped but the snow back east has created further delays. I wanted to save a few bucks, but I should have bought locally.

I CALLED BEFORE ORDERING TO BE SURE ITEM WAS ACTUALLY IN STOCK AND WAS ASSURED IT WAS. THE DAY AFTER ORDERING I RECEIVED E-MAIL " 2-3 WEEK DELAY." THEN 2 DAYS LATER E-MAIL " NO LONGER AVAILABLE, ORDER CANCELLED."
MY IMPRESSION IS THEY ARE JUST ANOTHER SITE THAT STOCKS NOTHING, PROMISES EVERYTHING, AND HOPES YOU DON'T CANCEL ONCE YOU FIND OUT THE TRUTH. FIRST & LAST WASTE OF TIME FOR ME.

Item desired was indicated on site to be available. Two days before Christmas an email was received that Kitchenaid items are backed up, and this specific item may be on backorder for 4 to 6 months! However, website still does not reflect this, leading people like myself to have thought that item was available.

I was looking for a pasta attachment for a KitchenAid mixer for a Christmas present. KaTom said they showed they had them. (at least as far as I could tell)I even paid for express delivery. The next day I received an e-mail saying it was out of stock until sometime in Jan. I wouldn't have gone through the process of buying it if I had known it was unavailable.

I ordered three separate items that were shown as in stock the end of November. I placed the order and received an email hours later telling me everything I ordered was temporarily out of stock. It said it would ship in 10-14 days. Three weeks later I had heard nothing and called. It appears the Manufactures were all sold out so KaTom could not fill the orders. Basically they are a large basement or garage with a very nice website and they place orders TO the manufacture once you place an order with them. They never apologized or could tell me when items would be "in stock" other than to say they will ship "as soon as they become available". They were kind enough to cancel my order and I received the items from other stores in 4 days. Just like it should be when stored "stock" items. I would never recommend them for anything.

I too ordered something from this store and they did not let me know that the item I ordered was not coming. They confirmed my order and told me it would arrive on a designated day. They then sent me another e-mail stating that my order was being processed.
It was not until I contacted them numerous times that they finally got back to me with the message that my item was on back order. Very disappointing experience and I ended up canceling my order and going with a more expensive, but reputable and proactive store. They did apologize for the inconvenience but never acknowledged the breakdown in their ordering process or their delay in communicating the issue. I will not buy from them again. |

Would not accept order cancellation. Katom informed me most of my order was not in stock and would take up to 14 days to back order. I informed Katom I did not have 14 days and to cancel items. Two weeks later the items arrived! There is no guarantee your order will be shipped in a timely manner or cancelled upon request. NEVER ORDER ONLINE FROM KATOM!

The product was on back-order and I was immeadiately informed. It came in quickly and I was informed that it had been shipped and tracking information was provided. The price was $100 less than from the manufacturer. Quality is excellent. They provided a catalog, and I will probably order other products.

My ordering process was fine. I used KaTom because they were the only company that had my product in stock and able to ship over night.
The problem I had was there was no specific tracking info provided to me to confirm that I would recieve my shipment over night. I called customer service 2 times to find out where my order was and to confirm it would be delivered by 5pm the next day.

I appreciated the patience in answering my questions prior to making the purchase on-line. Regarding the shipping charges, their agent researched the cost and called me back. I worked with another site that did not go to any extra trouble to answer my questions so I did not buy from them, even tho their price would have been a little less.

The ice maker didn't make ice for nearly 12 hours, which is probably expected. However, this wasn't disclosed in the instructions. When I called KaTom, they referred me to the manufacturer, rather than attempting to answer a simple question. The machine began making ice and is working fine.

I placed my order and paid for it, but apparrently the items were not in stock. Which I was never informed of until I sent several emails inquiring as to my order. Long story short is, if they had showed that the items were not in stock on the order screen I might have ordered something else or not placed the order at all. They definitely need to update their ordering system.
