KB Toys was once my favorite place to shop. Five years later, KB has turned into my own personal nightmare!
It's bad enough that KB Toys generally charges more than Toys R Us and K-Mart; and, generally not by a small margin!
When KBtoys.com does have a clearance sale, it is usually a great bargain.
But, is it?
In December (2004) I ordered a collector edition Batman figure. It's not available in their stores. It was over 60% off the retail price, so, I figured I would purchase it.
Shipping time was excellent. KB keeps you informed of the status of your package; another excellent point with KB.
But, that is where excellence ends.
KB Toys packages items poorly. Although, I seriously doubt the damage was due to shipping. Not when the flaps were outside the box, and double taped, and, not when the strap that secures the figure inside the box, is detached.
The figure itself was unharmed, so it was an easy fix. Display the figure opened.
January 2005.
I decided to give KB Toys a chance to redeem themselves. I purchased a collectible Batman statue, retailed for $250 on sale for $99.99
Once again, KB's packing incompetency ruined the transaction. The statue arrived broken in two pieces.
Customer service:
KB guarantees your satisfaction. They offer a money back guarantee, if you are not satisfied.
Problem is, they will not take responsibility, and cover the return shipping. Which, since they packaged it poorly, should be their responsibility.
What's worse is, they stated, "You should not buy collectible items online. You should purchase them in a retail store". Oh? Then WHY sell them online, and, not at the store? I would have been more than happy to save on shipping and handling!
What utter disregard for the customer!
And, I guess in the end, it was my fault, because they stated that for the cheap figure, as well!
I will take part of their advice: I will no longer buy from them online.
