Placing the Order
I found the website very easy to browse and place my gift order of a Hibiscus in a Tea Mug for my mom. Since I knew I was a little late getting the order placed for my mom to get by her actual birthday, I liked the feature that I could have an email announcement sent to her from the site notifying her a gift was on the way. I had used this for a Christmas present for someone else last year and was very pleased with that process then as well. When I placed my order on May 15, 2008, my confirmation stated that delivery was expected on June 6.
No email
My mom thought I had totally forgotten her birthday originally. That email notification that was supposed to go out right away... she was first sent on June 24. Wasn't that after the date it was supposed to be delivered? Hmmm...
Where's the Order?
I realize when working with plants, there can be delays, so I wasn't too concerned until I realized that the notification hadn't even gone out until a few weeks after the gift was supposed to be delivered. I went online to check the order status and found that orders prior to May 19 couldn't be looked up. So I then called on July 17 to ask about my order...
Customer Service?
When I called customer service I was told that with the merger, things were a little disorganized. When I pushed for an expected delivery date, I was told it had been shipped. When I then asked for a tracking number, I was told it was actually showing that it was packaged but hadn't yet shipped. Because it was shipped by "their vendor" she couldn't tell me when it was actually going to be shipped out, but should be in the next 7-10 days. She also couldn't cancel the order because it's shipped through their vendor.
By this time I was pretty frustrated and asked to speak to a manager. I was told there wasn't one available but I could leave my number and I'd be called back when one became available. I asked when that might be and was told it would probably be a day or two. Well, it's now July 28 and I still haven't gotten that call.
Finally Delivered
My mom did finally get the order on July 24. She did say it was a nice flower, so at least there still seems to be a quality product.
Final Thoughts
I've ordered from J&P before, and my mom even commented that this was the company that was always known for their great roses. However, after this experience, I don't plan on ordering from them again. When something is delivered a month and half late with no notification of a delay, I lose my respect for a company. I also found out that J&P has been taken over by Park Company and I've had several disappointing ordering experiences with other companies under that umbrella as well.
