- Inadequate search engine: does not find the right parts for make model even though they stock the right part. Typically it is listed under another make and model and you must cross-reference them yourself. Manufacturer number is not published even though it is in their system. They only publish their own (useless) item number which means nothing to anyone else but them. Search by manufacturer number and you may get lucky as apparently it is hidden in the system somewhere and may come up in a search. Search shows a range of prices, making price comparision shopping difficult. Another bizzare thing is that if you search by make and model of your motorcycle only some parts come up. If you broaden the search you will find more compatible parts that will be exact match for your motorcyle that did not appear in the original search. My conclusion is that the database JC Whitney uses to cross reference parts and assign them to the right year/make/model is totally inadequate.
- Discounts are not as big as they appear to be when you do the math with all the shipping, handling, oversize, etc, charges that they add on. You find out only after adding everything to your cart though.
- Standard shipping is extremely slow. Takes many days to receive your purchase even if you pay for shipping.. I am not even talking about the Free Shipping deal.
Bottom line: I will avoid them if I can find it somewhere else at similar price. The website is too clunky and the prices not great. Customer service is easy to reach via 1-800 number and generally friendly and willing to assist though. One thing to their credit is that they are definitely not hiding behind hidden contact pages and long hold times. The few times I called the phone was answered very quickly. If you cannot find it through their (poor) online search, call them and they may be able to find the right part for you.
