I have a 1973 VW bug that needed lots of work and I also live in Alaska. I needed to order parts and body pieces for the Bug and did so through JC Whitney and another company. I am not a mechanic or in anyway a car specialist of any kind. It was very easy to find and order the parts I needed from their online store and they had reasonable shipping costs (especially to Alaska. Although some of the bigger Items I had to arrange for shipment myself from Seattle which they could have done by looking at the alternative carriers (not UPS, USPS, and FED EX) but that is a problem with most companies who do not regularly ship up here.
The prices where good and they noted whether it was on back order before you went to the check out. They set a order confirmation E-mail as well as a Shipping confirmation E-mail which was great, then I knew when it actually left the store with out having to go to their website and check. The Shipping was fast and got here ahead of their estimated time (Surprise, surprise!) Everything was what I expected it to be and we were able to continue restoring the Bug with out having to wait extra time for missing parts.
