J. Crew's online store is a pretty good representation of the company's clothing: it is clean, fairly well organized and seems a little out of reach. A few years back J. Crew slowly began to creep their prices higher and higher. Now the same tank top that went for $10 just five years ago is being sold for $15 or $16 bucks. When I visit the J. Crew online store, I generally do so just to window shop. I love so many of their classic and basic pieces, but they have just gotten too expensive for me to really buy anything unless it is on sale. I just can justify spending $16 on a tank top or $40 on a polo shirt when you can comparable quality clothing at Old Navy or Target for a fraction of the price. The other thing is that their shipping prices are ridiculous. They charge based on how much you spend, instead of how much the items weigh, so you can buy a $60 swim suit and still have to pay $9 to ship it. I do still go to J. Crew when looking for bathing suits, though. And still find myself surveying their fancy dresses whenever I get a chance. They do have good quality products, I just wish i could afford more of them.
