J&R Music World has been a household name around these parts for well over thirty-five years now and although they are no stranger to me from years of reading their ads in various hi-fi and electronics publications...sadly I am or at least was...until recently...a stranger unto them. Now that the once great and almighty local salon...Sound Reproduction has disappeared completely from the face of this wonderful but troubled planet earth of ours...I find myself patronizing Ebay for most of my poor man's rock bottom price purchases.
Yes...every so often I still visit Audio Connection and its founder...John Rutan for my more unique audiophile needs but like surfing ebay on the internet highway for my poor man's necessities.
Oh...yes one can find me at Coach's Corner with Acer Aspire One notebook early Friday A.M. browsing Ebay's sea and plethora of economical audio interconnects, loudspeakers and...yes...audiophile cheapy amps...namely Audiosource's beloved AMP 100 which can be purchased for around a hundred and twenty bucks or less!
And that is precisely what I was looking for this one particular Fri. A.M However...I thought it would be fun to break from my scrutinizing the various offerings on the subject and surf on over to EPINIONS to check my notes on the wonderfully crafted low cost amplifier.
You see...although I purchased one of these audio gems over four years ago...I had to leave it behind when separating from my wife and family over a year ago. My eldest needed it more than I for his top notch gaming system.

a J&R ad/link to the right of it offering a refurbished version of the notorious model caught my eye...and most assuredly...my interest and curiosity!!!
The link revealed a refurbished Audiosource Amp 100 for a mere $69 w/FREE s h...Ole'!!! Although the model might have minor scuff marks...it was guaranteed to be at o.e.m. or better performance and condition!
OK...you're telling me that I can have my favorite all-time classic amp for the price of a theater seat at the Met??? No problema...the "BIN" tab was hit immediately and I was transported to a rather painless and express checkout that allowed me to use my VISA Rushcard and breeze throuugh the nice process with an EMAIL containing a quick link to my tracking number with UPS Ground.
The package was to arrive Monday ands it did...except that I wasn't there to sign for it. So it returns Tuesday and this time I was present to sign for it. J&R absolutely insists that you be present to sign for the package...not your neighbor so keep this in mind. It really is not such a bad idea for this time of year as so many thiefs are out there on the loose waiting to prey on other people's property and belongings...so beware!
At any rate...the beautifully crafted well designed unit arrived in great condition very well packed and double-boxed with that beautiful AudioSource black and white classic Amp 100 box on the inside indeed. This demonstrated J&R's commitment to professionalism and first rate customer experience!

The letter goes on to state other things that will assist you throughout the customer experience. I did call them to test their commitment to the valued customer and kick the tires a bit on their technical knowledge. They are just pleasant to deal with!Their refurbished amp also gives me an opportunity to re-evaluate the top notch item in the "Writer's Corner" of this site and...I most assuredly indeed will in the near future after it is fully burned in and properly broken in.
Anyone who requires a low cost first rate product purchase but is refurb-a-phobic...has no need to "fear" when dealing with the likes of J&R Music And Computer World. This is important to note as the holidays approach! Service and price aside...they offer a great array of products on their web site for your consideration from laptops to camcorders and headphones. As singer Carly Simon once said..."Nobody Does It Better"!!!...God bless...PJS-II
