I was looking for a certain kitchen gadget around the holidays and found the lowest price listed was at Instawares.com. I ordered it on December 27, 2006. I was not notified if the item was in stock or not at the time of purchase.
Instawares appears to be a website, selling merchandise to the restaurant trade. The website was easy to navigate, major credit cards and promotional codes are accepted.
LACK OF COMMUNICATION
On January 4th, I received an email that an "issue report" was filed. What was that? I never heard of it. The letter did mention that my item was on back order. The following day, I received another email, telling me this issue was resolved. I had not responded to them yet, and didn't know what was resolved and with whom.
I contacted the company by email and requested information, as to whom this "dispute" had been satisfied with. I received no response. I thought I'd wait a week or two, still no response from this company.
I called the last Friday in January, and was informed that my item will be sent in February. I then phoned again on the first Friday in February, asking when I might have word from this company as to when I might receive my item. It has been six weeks since the order date. No one knew anything.
CHARGING WITHOUT PRODUCING
I noticed my credit card was charged for the item December 27th, even though the item was not sent to me yet, and without any idea of when I would receive my order. At this point, February 9th, I decided to cancel my order. The representative would not cancel it, due to no one answering the phone in the warehouse. I repeated, I do not have any further interest in dealing with this company and request a refund to my credit card. I was again refused.
CREDIT CARD MUSCLE
I contacted my credit card company and explained to them that this company has charged me in December for an item they can still not produce in February, and are uncertain as to the delivery date. I informed them that I was trying to cancel the order, but the company would not let me. My credit card company issued an immediate refund and said not to worry about a thing. Thanks guys!
BOTTOM LINE
Although this appears to be a reputable site, for the restaurant trade, listing items made for industrial use, my experience has lead me to believe it it a wolf in sheeps clothing. You are lured by high quality items and low prices. Then they do not deliver.
I do not recommend anyone shop at this site.
