Won't be buying at homedepot.com ever again.
by mjknightyahoo, November 4, 2009

I recently purchased over $3500 of appliances on HomeDepot.COM. I found that one of the items I bought isn't what I wanted so I called to inquire about a return.
I was told I could return it to the local store, which is convenient, but that I would be charged a 15% restocking fee. I find this return policy to be extremely poor service and unfortunate. I can't imagine that I will buy anything on homedepot.com in the future. |

Home Depot Online -- not ready for prime time
by originalbob, November 1, 2009
|

|
Beware Home Depot Online's unfriendly return policy. I recently ordered a TV wall mount advertised as being for 10" to 30" LCD TVs, with no mention of exceptions. Turns out it's not compatible for Samsung TD260 LCDs, which I bought it to mount. When I called for the return authorization, the customer service rep told me that I would be responsible for return shipping costs, and that the company would not refund my original shipping costs, putting me out over $12 for something that had not been my error. When I protested, the rep put me on hold, and returned to say the company would give me a "one time only" free return shipping arrangement. When I said I felt I should be reimbursed for the original shipping charge that delivered the item to me, there was a much longer hold, then news of another "one time only" refund of the original shipping cost.
You bet it's one time only. I will never again order anything from Home Depot Online; I can't imagine Amazon.com or any other savvy online retailer taking the default position of "You're responsible for shipping costs, even if we screw up." |

Excellent service in delivering and installing refrigerator
by simplprincipl, August 30, 2009
|

I bought a refrigerator at at Home Depot because, with free shipping and an internet sale, the price was considerably cheaper than the same model at Sears outlet. I read with trepidation some of the reviews of the online shipping service, but noted many of them were old. So I made the purchase and have nothing but positives to report. They offered delivery times starting about 4 days out. I picked Saturday. The day before, they gave me a 4-hour delivery window. When that window got here, it was not long before the phone rang that the truck would arrive in about 20 minutes. 15 or 20 minutes later, the truck was in my driveway. The two men were professional, cooperative, and seemed to know what they were doing. At least one had taken training on how to install a refrigerator. I should note that the delivery service is provided by a shipping company that delivers a variety of products for other stores in the area as well. In short, though, no problems, done right, five stars.

Excessive packaging

Positive: Fast delivery (3 days, normal shipping), order was correct, best price for this item.
Negative: I ordered 4 interior door knobs from Home Depot.com, and it was shipped in a box the size of a dishwasher! It was filled with all this bulky foam packing material, which didn't do any good because 2 of the knobs and their parts were spilled out all over the box. I'm actually missing 3 parts, but I think I can manage the installation without them. Besides that inconvenience, I'm just annoyed at the wastefulness in the packaging. |

Better shopping experience than expected after reading reviews

I was more than a little leery about ordering from HomeDepot.com after reading some of these very negative reviews, but I could not be happier with my experience. I ordered an obscure product and expected it to be shipped in the two to three days stated on the website. I paid for the 2nd Day Air shipping as I needed the product as soon as humanly possible, (the item is not available in any of my local stores - not just Home Depot, it is not available ANYWHERE!!).
I received a shipping notification two days after placing my order, and it actually shipped the day before (one day after the order was placed)!! So I received my item three days after placing the order, which is earlier than I had anticipated. Yay Home Depot! |

Quick Shipment! I was thrilled! Until I went to the store and the $39.96 item that I purchased online had a $10 price tag at the store! Plus, the item showed as "not available in stores" on their website too. so I paid $50.97 for something I could have spent $10.76 on and had the same day. Of course, Home Depot online doesn't price match...so I'm screwed out of $51.00 for a couple of weeks and still have to go back and purchase the item for $10.00 at the store. GRRRR

Had wood floors installed. Bad and sloppy work. Customer service was not helpful. Home Depot never returned calls and did not seem concerned with our problem. My husband wrote comments on the sign off sheet stating our dissatisfaction of installation, which evidently was never looked at once it left the house. Home Depot agreed to repair the work but have not heard from them. I will not shop at Home Depot again and would really warn customers to take a good hard look at the reviews...it just might save you a lot of headache and dollars.

Three projects, three nightmares. What are the odds?
Nightmare 1: kitchen cabinet refacing. Three day project took five weeks. Seems they showed me samples from one manufacturer and delivered product from another manufacturer with crappy quality and wrong stain color. Nightmare 2: Silestone counter top in kitchen. Ordered and paid extra for the beveled edge. Counter installed had beveled edge but the edge was not polished. Had to remove counter top, take to factory to fix then reinstall. One day project took 10 days. Nightmare 3: Kitchen floor. Paid to have old floor that was installed in 1988 removed, floor leveled and new vinyl put down. Guy shows up at 8:00 a.m., said he had to get an additive for the filler to level the floor, never came back. One day project took seven. NEVER... EVER... USE HOME DEPOT!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

I was very pleased when I first received my fire pit from The Home Depot. Unfortunately the box didn't do well at all in shipping and had a huge dent in the copper bowl.
When contacting The Home Depot they refused to do anything to assist me - asserting that I had somehow damaged the fire pit myself when installing it. I wound up having to have dispute the charge on my credit card in order to get any satisfaction. Be careful if you buy from Home Depot online!!! For the past six months I've been ordering from Lowes online and have been very happy. Good luck if you order from Home Depot. |

I bought a shed and had it delivered. They delivered the wrong one, and trying to get your rebate for delivery - good luck! I had to fill in all the information two times. First time it dissappeared and the second time it froze for about five minutes before confirmation page came up, and that's after I spent twenty minutes on the phone with them to get the right register number and transaction number that were conveniently not legible on the receipt.

I got wood floors from Home depot.
They delivered them to the PARKING LOT and wanted to leave them IN THE RAIN. No kidding. I purchased a fridge from home depot. The installers were movers. I gave them a supply line. NO CLUE! They could not figure out how to connect an ice maker. REALLY!? I had to show them how to trim the supply line and add a connector. I purchased a dishwasher from home depot. The installers did not have "a bracket". The manager at home depot never gave me a price or status on the bracket. The dishwasher is still NOT installed. I have had it with these guys. Delivery service and installation service are way sub-standard. |

HomeDepot.com supervisor admitted the error on their part and offered to issue an RMA # to "return" the item (which is ridiculous b/c I never even got it). DON'T BUY APPLIANCES FROM HOME DEPOT unless you can bring them home and install them yourself.
Home Depot takes no responsibility for the delivery and installation of your purchase. They contract out to a GE delivery service who then sub contracts to local businesses. The customer has no idea who is going to enter their home. The installer may have little or no training (one guy brought his 8-10 y/o to help) and limited knowledge of the equipment. I was forced to return a dishwasher when the delivery person refused to install it. He gave me a lengthy explanation about how all dishwashers of this brand needed a special outlet, which I have learned was BS. (I checked with the manufacturer, too.) Apparently, they get paid by delivery, whether the stuff leaves the truck or not. The manager at Home Depot was totally unconcerned. His response was, "Isn't that terrible? It happens all the time. We have no control over delivery and installation." I must add that my appliance was not purchased online, but from a local store. The policies regarding delivery and installation are the same for both points of purchase. Home Depot corporate has confirmed this, reluctantly. |

On-line ordering went smoothly. Slow...
by Home Depot Shopper, July 19, 2007
|

|
On-line ordering went smoothly. Slow acknowledgement of order and longer than expected delay in shipping notice. Supposed "order tracking" was useless both on-line and with telephone call to the so-called "Customer Service". Delivery will require my presence to accept but I am unable to find out the status of shipping or its arrival so that I can make arrangements to be there. If they're going to advertise and promote the customer's ability to track their order, they should be required to deliver on that promise. With the efficient and timely order tracking available today from other vendors, this type of "service" is unacceptable. I would even have been willing to pay extra for shipment if I could have been assured that the process would work efficiently. Given my good prior experiences with on-line ordering from Home Dopot, I was both surprised and disappointed with the entirety of this transaction. I hope Home Depot takes steps to correct this gross deficiency in their otherwise worthwhile products and services.
