I tried to buy an item from Home Depot Online. The web page for checking out was not working properly so, after several attempts, I finally gave in and called the "online shopping" phone line. I immediately got hold of someone who was happy to help me place my order. She told me that there were some in stock and my item should ship right away. She also told me there was only one ship method available - ground. - This is ridiculous considering this package is no larger than a small cereal box and weighs less than a pound. Because they are the only distributor of this product, I allowed this inconvenience to pass and, reluctantly, continued with my order.
I checked the status of my order. The order, many days later, was still in process - Not even on a truck! I called to see what was happening and the voice menus did not have any option to assign my request. I resorted to calling several numbers from the Contact Directory and selecting each option. None of the rigid operators were willing to help. They seemed callous to my request for assistance.
I called customer service; they had me on hold for 20 minutes waiting for someone to assist me. After going through many voice menu circles, I finally got hold of someone who seemed reasonable. I tried to cancel and reorder the item with an expedited delivery time. At this point this "reasonable" person put me on hold and, after several minutes of waiting, sent me - without telling me - back into the voice menu! I hung up and then checked the status to see what was done; Nothing! My order was not even cancelled.
I tried one more time. I finally got hold of someone who told me that my order was delayed for some unknown reason. This operator claimed he was unable to help me with my order.
