Terrible shipping record, abysmal service.

This used to be a great place to shop. Great products at very good prices and this still holds true, BUT, since Home Depot took over, their track record has gone from bad to worse. They have shipped me wrong items, then refuse return because the item I wanted to return was not the item I paid for. Item shipping time is abysmal, if you get it. Credit approval takes forever, which delays shipping time.
Their customer service people are very nice but are not given the the tools to solve or do anything. The only way I ended up getting credit was by disputing the charges through American Express. |

I ordered an armoire for a large screen T.V. Let's just say this was the worst experience I've had when shopping on-line. I don't think this company has any employees who really know what they are doing. My furniture was damaged leaving the warehouse and returned there the next day by the freight company. The day before delivery I found this out. Not by calling Home Decorators, rather by calling the freight company. Home Decorators didn't know a thing about it. Then when they did a few days research, they figured out the problem. The refunded my money but weren't sure if they could refund the $100.00 freight charge. The product never left! They did refund the money. How exasperating! BEWARE, it's not worth the savings!!!

I ordered a computer armoire from Home Decorators Collection and had nothing but headaches ever since. It was one problem after the next and I am still without my furniture 4 months later!! Extremely disappointing from all angles.

I just got off the phone with customer service at Home Decorators and I feel very concerned. They charged my credit card AND sent a Fedex tracking # to my email stating my items would be delivered today. I didn't receive my items so I called Home Decorators and found out one of my two items is most likely out of stock and the other hasn't really even been shipped. Why would they send me a Fedex tracking number and charge my CC without even having the items on hand to send me. I wish I read all of the negative reviews about this company before I ordered here and I hope its not a fight to reverse these charges.

A horrible shopping experience. These people cannot be trusted. Their words don't match their actions. They genuinely do not care about their customers and have no perception of what customer service means. I only wish I had read the many complaints already posted here...and acted accordingly. Every bit of the negative experiences that are mentioned in other reviews came true for me and the problem still isn't resolved. Run as fast as you can, AWAY from these folks if you are considering purchasing anything.
It will turn out to be one of your biggest nightmares if you buy from them. |

Ordered tables and a rug two separate times. Both orders were delivered very fast. The items were better than pictured. Overall, this was a very pleasant shopping experience, and I would recommend them highly.

Homedecorators leave heavy merchandise (living room cabinet weighing more than 200 lbs) on SIDEWALK.
The shopping experience was horrifying. The product was listed as available in catalog and then was back ordered for 3 months. They did give a 10% discount after a unpleasant negotiation. However shipment was a catastrophe. The cabinet was delivered by leaving it on the sidewalk in front of the condo building !!!!(even though there is a elevator). Customer service was extremely rude, did not take responsibility, and said this is the normal procedure unless you have special home delivery. Reviewing Internet fine print there is no info about this, but it says it will be delivered "to your door" (sidewalk?) but not placed in room. Customer service and supervisor both unhelpful. Said that is normal procedure in Internet furniture delivery?? Outrageous inconvenience, complete refusal to be helpful and customer blaming was their idea of problem solving. |

Ordered some outdoor patio cushions on June 30th. Email stated they were scheduled to ship June 14. Called June 26th and told they were on back order and not expected to ship till July 1. When I questioned the clerk, she came back and assured me that the cushions had arrived and would be shipped the next day, June 27th. A week later, you guessed it - NO CUSHIONS. Called again and was told that the shipping tags were printed but misplaced. Would definitely ship July 5th and I would get a 20% discount. Package shipped on July 8th. Summer is coming to an end here and no cushions for my outdoor patio furniture. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. |

This is one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with.
I ordered and expensive bathroom vanity ($1300.00).they emailed me a shipping date and then after waiting a week and calling them I was informed that they lost the paperwork. after another week delay it was shipped via a second rate freight company(SEIKO) whose drivers dropped it in front of my house and destroyed it. I'm still waiting and generous HDC is offering a $30.00 discount coupon on my next purchase. (like I would ever buy anything from them again! what a fly by night rip off company. Run as fast as you can from this crowd. |

I have successfully ordered items from Home Decorators Collection several times and have been satisfied with the products and delivery. Most recently I bought an area rug and received it within days. The quality is great and it was packed well. I used a money-off coupon found in the catalog which basically paid for the shipping costs. Maybe I have just been lucky -- and after reading about the experiences of others -- that could be the case. I would order from them again based on my personal satisfaction -- so far.

I have ordered several different kinds of items from this website. I have never had any problems. I do read the descriptions very carefully and on occasion have discovered something that I didn't realize at first was the case, such as assembly required or patterns/colors different from the photo. Perhaps they need some help with their catalog/website copywriting, but everything I have ordered has arrived just as described in excellent condition and in a timely manner. I ordered approximately $320 worth of resin wicker furniture and it was exactly as shown. I was pleased enough to place another order for two more chairs and a coffee table. These also arrived promptly with no problems. They were so well packaged that it took my husband and I about a half-hour to get all the wrapping off...not a chance of any damage, they were so well packed.

Horrid experience trying to buy window blinds from HDC. They messed up the order terribly, and it took 4 months (and ~15 conversations with the company) for HDC to ship me the proper merchandise and fix the problem with the charge on my credit card.

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. This company took my order for over $1,000 worth of merchandise, sent part (carpet pads) never sent the remainder (the actual carpets). After numerous inquiries, they told me my credit card wasn't accepted. Funny, but it worked for the pads! When I tried to talk to someone, the girl at customer service told me to get a new credit card company! I called back to talk to a supervisor, was put on hold for 15 minutes, then got a snotty attitude from the supervisor. IF YOU BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY IT IS AT YOUR OWN PERIL. THEY HAVE NO CONCEPT OF CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Product was very low quality for the price we paid (black maple 36" media cabinet). Incorrect hardware was provided, and I ended up having to drill about 20 holes because they were not pre-drilled. NOT a good value for the money, and I am not going to do business with this vendor again.

I ordered two items from them in May - a bookcase and a table. Bookcase was supposed to be shipped next day ---- eventually after two months of delay I received it... and - what a surprise! - the parts did not match and their parts department didn't have them in stock, meaning 'don't bother waiting', the door was all damaged - but, my lucky day! - they did have it in stock and were going to ship it next day... two weeks later it was not shipped and at that time they DID NOT have it in stock... to make a long story short - my door will be (might be... or will never be???) shipped at the end of September! I am writing this on July 27th.
The second item was supposed to be shipped on 7/05/2004 - it's not even in their warehouse yet. Will I get it?????? |

Very good experience. Easy to shop web site. Order arrived quickly and (mostly) in good shape. Assembly took one to three hours on each small cabinet that I ordered -- and I am an absolute novice in assembly. The items look exactly as they appear on the web site.
I say they are mostly in good shape because there are a few places on the wood that need some extra polish -- but it is nothing I can't fix or live with. I would definitely shop with them again. |

I would love to say that the furniture that I ordered was lovely, well made and just as I ordered, but I have yet to receive my order! I'm very disappointed in the way my order was handled! I ordered on April 2nd and it is now May 5th. I have called three times and every time I call they repeat an obviously scripted excuse as to why they have not shipped the item. Three times they said "We just got in a shipment today and are going through it, making sure the items are in good shape and we expect to ship your item out today! Can we offer you a 10 percent discount for the trouble?" But they had already given that to me with a previous inquiry so they had nothing else to offer. I canceled the order and will shop elsewhere for my furniture in the future!

From the time I ordered an item to the time it shipped was three days. It then took a week to get to my doorstep (and I don't live that far away). It arrived damaged (had a forklift-shaped hole in the box). I called customer service, and they passed me over to the parts department. After half an hour on hold, I finally talked to a nice lady that understood my problem, and told me that a replacement part would be shipped right out. Five days later it was finally shipped, taking another week to get to me. Total time of the whole transaction: 20 days! That is not the way to keep customers happy. That is not the way to keep customers, period. I know that they have lost my business.

I liked the piece of furniture I received - good quality and looked better in person than it appeared on the website. My only comment is that there were absolutely no assembly instructions included in the package, and it was a fairly complicated assembly (i.e. Safety hinges, hidden bolt legs). If it had not been similar to something assembled recently, it would have been very frustrating to figure out.
