They promise but they don't deliver

On Feb 8, 2009, I placed an order for furniture in the amount of $1032. I was promised a $10 customer reward for every $50 spent, which meant I would receive a $200 credit. It was to be sent to me SOMETIME BEFORE MARCH 25, BY EMAIL OR US MAIL, and needed to be used between March 25 and April 8. I watched email and US mail for 7 weeks; on March 25, I left for Rwanda for 2+ weeks. I still thought I would be receiving the email or US mail certificate and had my daughter watching at home. Nothing showed up during the time I was away. I called the minute I had a US phone again (Saturday April 11, in the morning). I was promised someone would call me back Monday morning, but no one did. When I called back, I was informed that I'd missed the the window for ordering and they could not help me. They admitted that many people didn't get their emails (sent out, they said, March 24--though I have every other email they sent me, but not that one). Those people were required to CALL IN to get the reward certificate. I explained that I couldn't call since I didn't have phone service in Rwanda, and that I'd called the moment I returned. I explained that I think it is unfair to have a 7 week window in which you may receive information in multiple formats, and then to blame me when I don't phone them (because I can't) to ask why I haven't received the certificate. Wayne Ford, the customer service supervisor, was VERY SORRY but couldn't help me. This feels like a scam designed to make it difficult (if not impossible) for people to receive the rewards they've been promised. I will never order from this company again.
