I ordered the Joshua Laptop Desk from HDC. It arrived on schedule, and I started to assemble it. Unfortunately, one of the legs was missing its nut inserts so I was unable to fasten the leg with the bolts. So....I had a 3-legged desk. I called the supplied number for who to contact about missing parts, a company called HQV, and I got the following response:
"I am so sorry that the parts that you have do not enable you to
put together the unit properly. I have processed your order and since
the item you are requesting is not in stock at the moment, it needs to
be ordered. It should arrive at the address that you indicated in about
6-8 weeks. All items are shipped through UPS and need to be signed for
on arrival. There is no charge for any replacement parts that you order
you simply have to be there to sign for the package. If you have any
questions about this please call 1-866-540-4121. The reference number
for your order is xx-xxx."
Needless to say, many emails and excuses from HQV later, I still don't have the missing parts. It is now 4 months since I ordered the desk. I sent a complaint also to Home Decorators Collection, but received no response at all.
I will never buy anything from this company again, and I advise you to avoid them as well.
Update: After more than 5 months, the part finally arrived. Too bad that I already took the matter into my own hands. After several months without a functional desk, I scoured the internet for the right hardware (I could not find the right size in any local hardware store). I had to buy a whole pack of nut inserts and a metric hex driver (~$16 from DrillSpot.com -- great site!!!), but about a month ago I fixed the desk myself. I find it hilarious that they sent me a whole new leg, but this time it was missing the threaded insert at the foot of the leg for inserting the adjusting bolt (a rubberized bolt for leveling).
